There are many out there who will understand what this is all about. Some of you won't. I have included both the song and an interview to help others understand the cry of hearts out there. To all of you who see this and it speaks to you, as a father, I cry for you, I pray for you, I long for you...I want you to know there are those that truly care and will love you for who you are. You don't have to change to be someone else. You have a beauty within you that only God can release and, although, you will look many other places to get that release, only God will provide it. Remember, you are not alone. You may feel lonely, but you are not alone. So, I continue to pray...
1:2 She weepeth sore in the night, and her tears are on her cheeks; Among all her lovers she hath none to comfort her: All her friends have dealt treacherously with her; they are become her enemies.
18:16 He sent from on high, he took me; He drew me out of many waters. 18:17 He delivered me from my strong enemy, And from them that hated me; for they were too mighty for me. 18:18 They came upon me in the day of my calamity; But Jehovah was my stay. 18:19 He brought me forth also into a large place; He delivered me, because he delighted in me. 18:20 Jehovah hath rewarded me according to my righteousness; According to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.
You know, as an additional thought, I wonder how many Christians are also suffering from this numbness, how many are hiding their pain. We need to also reach out to those who are hiding and pray for light to come into the area of their suffering.
Great post DC. I knew someone who was a cutter...stemmed from her being molested as a child. The awesome thing is that when these young ladies (they are usually female) come to know a real Jesus who bore the stripes upon His back, they turn from making stripes on themselves. He sustained the pain so we could live in freedom without numbness.
Dennis, Plumb has given her life to speaking out for those who are hurting. Really awesome calling, if you ask me. Each of her albums has at least one song dedicated to human suffering. Her ability to write is awesome - really deep emotion. She is a little over the top for most people.
AngiePangie, I don't know anybody personally, but I know people who do. A lot of teachers see it and don't know what to do about it. They feel for the kids and wish they had a way to reach them (that is what they tell me), and, yes, all that they have discussed are female. It is so sad. Yet, you give me hope because I can see how they would truly understand His stripes and how He bore those stripes for them...that is cool.
I truly didn't expect anybody to comment on this post...it is a very tough subject and most of us are clueless in how to deal with it...and I am no exception.
I would love to hear from people who have dealt with this issue. If you don't want to comment publicly, send me a private message.
