1:27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 1:28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, [yea], and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: God has chosen foolish things, What a statement from the Apostle Paul that foolish things could actually be used by the living God. Paul realized that all his studies from the feet of the most knowledgeable scholars of his time, compared to his new birth conversion was foolishness. Anyone that had a new birth experience was considered a fool by those that were seminary trained.God chose the weak things to confound the mighty, God used a donkey to speak to the madness of the prophet, who was in process of selling out to the highest bidder. God used a rooster to speak to Peter, after he boosted that he would never forsake his Lord.God don't need a man with the strength of a Samson, God don't need a man with the wisdom of a Solomon. God needs a man that's available, that he can pour that strength and wisdom into. God really don't necessarily need a man, there's been times that he used a yielded woman.God chose the base things, those things that are despised. Today those things that are despised are those things that call sin what it is "without compromise". You will be hated of all lost men for my very name sake. Jesus said, you are not of this world and you will be hated by the world, if you abide in me. God hath chosen the things that are not to bring to nought the things that are. God uses things like the destroyer of the church, Saul of Tarsus to become the builder of the church Paul the Apostle. God could raise up a long haired hippy boy hooked on drugs and make a God thing to reach the lost and backslid-den people of Gaston County. 2:1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. 2:2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. 2:3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. 2:4 And my speech and my preaching [was] not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: 2:5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. Paul after his foolish, weak and base conversion Paul said, I came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom. Paul shared the testimony of a man that was totally lost, without God.God had to get his attention in route to Damascus with a super bright light that blinded him for three days. Paul had this thing about not knowing anything other than Christ, He choose not to take sides in the silly little difference that most churches have. Paul took a monument to show his human side, folks forget sometimes that the man God is using is still flesh and blood. Paul was afraid, he knew that he possessed weaknesses, Paul understood that he was just a man.Paul preaching was not spell binding with enticing words. Paul preaching was seasoned with the power of the Holy Ghost, for as he begin to speak conviction fell on lost people. Paul begin to preach the devil possessed became troubled and the devil was cast out in Jesus name. Paul preached blind eyes were open, those that were lame stood up and walked. Paul preached an one fell and broke his neck and Paul prayed and God restored his life. There was power and a demonstration of the moving of the Holy Ghost, in Paul's preaching. Paul preached an a riot broke out, because Paul preached against the idols and the false gods of those cities he was trying to evangelize.Paul understood that it was a God thing to move in the power of the Holy Ghost. Man's wisdom can take one but so far, that make for a man's thing. Man can't save nor can man heal nor can man give eternal life, these are the things of God. |
