As Jesus pointed out how the Hypocrites pray or the (pretenders). They say alot of words but have no heart or passion. Empty babbling and long prayers with meaningless words.This verse leads us to a profound truth of how to pray. Jesus teaches that prayer is to be focused, in vs. 9-13 He outlines a format that can be followed and adapted to every soul that prays to the Father from the sincere desires of their hearts. This type of prayer not only acknowledges the Father in every aspect of our needs and His purpose but invites Him to move in the arenas of our lives.
6:5 "And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by men. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 6:6 But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you. |
