| Rightly Dividing Scripture |
|

This is today's scripture..........................Matthew 6:5 "And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by men. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 6:6 But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you. Here is another scripture taken from the same book:- 18:19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. Here is a continuation of scripture taken from the same chapter:-
18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. I will to know your thoughts on this very important subject. |

| Oh my thoughts are these....2 or 3 can be gathered on the phone...by e-mail...by snail mail....or in person...the gathering is coming to a meeting of the minds in agreement with the same thing. If on *this* forum, MyChurch, someone post a specific prayer request...and I say I am praying...then I am praying for what they specifically asked me to pray for, and usually I'm praying as I type (smile), interceding...talking to the Lord...and not verbally talking to the viewers of MyChurch. I see nothing wrong with those that do, unless like in the scripture you quoted from Matthew the 6th chapter...They just want to be seen of men, and their motives are wrong ;o) |

| Marcia, I believe the warning in Mat 6 deals with the arrigance and pomp of some who want to be seen as Godly and do not really pray to God at all. I am curtain that the reward, He refers to that they have received is DEATH.
The scripture in Mat 18 supports the Teaching of the connection of each of us being part of a larger body and the power of our coming together in agreement. It is critical to God to see that we love one another and that we understand how closely linked we are to each other. He shows us how important it means to Him by "His being in their midst" of this kind of praying. A reminder, too, that we pray in His name. Amen |

Thank you for acknowledging and responding Margie.
Thank you also Preston.
I think of two examples:-
1) I call a close friend and I ask her to pray with me because I am going through a life and death situation and my mind is unstable. I am waiting to hear what the friend has to say to increase my faith in the Written Word. I am looking for encouragement to stay on this straight and narrow path. I wait, and I wait and I wait and then my friend says to me I will pray for you, or she says I am praying, but I am not hearing any words. What I am to believe? You got it right I did not hear any prayers so I will not call that friend to pray for me again.
2) I call another friend and ask her to pray with me. She begins to earnestly prayer with fervor, quoting the proper scriptures to build my faith in the Written Word. I agree with her, because my faith is encouraged. We both begin to praise the Lord God of heaven and earth, because God is pleased and He is in the midst. I leave this conversation with my friend with new assurance in the Written Word. I will call this friend again, because she did the right thing.
So you see the two examples? Which one would you choose?
In Matthew chapter 6/5, I believe Jesus was specifically speaking about the "hypocrites" the (learned ones who were the scribes and pharisees of His day), because He mentioned they stand in the "synagogues" and pray repeated prayers to be seen of men. He also mentions the way they "fast". There are many who do this in the modern day churches. They "announce their giving, fasting and praying"., and Jesus was "dressing them down" so to speak, because of the hypocrisy. He also said do not pray "vain repetitions" like some denominations eg., Catholics with "Hail Mary". He said those people are heathens. Then He went on to tell us after what manner we should pray, using the "Our Father" example, where He covers all bases of "our needs".
Thank you Holy Spirit for rightly dividing the scriptures and giving us Your interpretation for our good and for the good of others. Thank you for teaching us how to pray, and how to pray for others, so that our prayers can be truly heard and answered. 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Shalom to all my friends.

Very early this morning as I opened my bible these words fell upon my heart. Apparently God is concerned for the prayers on My Church not being done in the proper manner so that He can respond.
I pray that we all pay heed to our Father........Now I offer up these prayers.
Father, I know what you have shown me through Your Spirit. Now would You please show others and please do not allow Your Word to fall on deaf ears. Let Your Glory and Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Let Your Kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven, in the name of my precious Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, Amen.
Shalom to all my friends. May you truly have a blessed day. |

Prayer and communion in the Spirit is something that should be done together as well as separate, and I agree, if I am in a place with others who have the same faith, or even if they don't, if it's something I worry about, by heaven I will bow my head and pray. I bow my head and pray sometimes aloud, depending on where I am and what's going on. Many people fail to recognize the fact that I'm a minister even when I walk around with my favorite cross and my Bible and a smile on my face.

Thank you for acknowledging and responding my friend.
I was adding pictures to my blogs randomly and chose this particular blog. God is very interested to watch over His word ... ( If ye abide in me and my words abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done unto you. John chapter 15/7). ((Verse 8.. Herein is my Father glorified that you bear much fruit; so shall you be my disciples)). ((Verse 6 states If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth and men gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned)).
Shalom to you my friend Sister Marcia |
