| I'm expecting! |
|
| |
Do you live a life of expectancy? I try to. I am expecting God to do something or show me something today. He might draw my attention to a doe and her speckled fawn, or He might show me a wrong perspective that I've had about something or someone. Maybe He'll lead me to a Bible verse that shows how much He loves me, or maybe to Scripture that sheds light on a perplexing situation. Maybe I'll "get it" or maybe I won't, but I'm much more likely to see it and get it if I'm expecting to find it. So I'm expecting.
I think of it as a treasure hunt. God has put good things all around me; I just need to have my eyes open and be looking for them. And sometimes, the good things don't look really good at first view. "Wait!" God says. "Dig a little deeper, look a little closer. There's treasure there, it's just not obvious on the surface." He's God and He's infinitely wise and creative, and He doesn't always package "good" so that it looks the way I think it should.
That's why it's important to have expectancy, but not a fixed expectation. I should expect to see the hand of God on things and in things, but I shouldn't go looking with the expectation of seeing a certain thing. I limit my view, (and therefore my blessings), with my preconcieved notions of what to expect.
There's a lot of trash in the world, but there's a lot of treasure, too. Today, why not ask God to help you see more of the treasure? Go out "expecting", cuz He loves to bless His children with good gifts! |

| Jen, when you are walking with God, it is the only way to walk, IMHO. Just as I expect a sunrise in the morning, I expect to see His hand in all I do...what a great reminder...thanks. |

| Jen, This post goes perfectly with my latest, Following the Favor of God. The Lord must be trying to say something here :) |

dc: my humble opinion is in agreement with yours! Sue: How did I miss your blog? I just read it and I agree: I think God wants us to stay focused on the good that He is doing. That keeps our eyes where they should be in the first place - on Him; it also wards off discouragement. :-) Thanks for the comments, guys! |

| I agree. Hindsight is always 20/20 when it comes to this sort of thing, too, even when things are bad. What I mean with this, is, when we're going through a tough time we don't see or feel these 'nudgings' from God through His creation, but often, if we look back, we can see God guiding us to the place we are meant to be - through the storm. |

You know, Paul, I think we'd see more of the good that God is doing for us during those tough times if we'd look a little harder. Even humbly going to Him and asking Him to show us the good when there doesn't seem to be any, instead of ranting about the tough stuff. Thanks for writing! :-) |

Now this is interesting. I've been feeling a blog developing inside me (in fact I've jotted down some notes already) about expecting to see God daily. I love your example of seeing Him in nature and even in concealed ways. I think this is just one way our "Lover" draw us closer to Himself. I love the way He surprises us with the various ways He chooses to manifest Himself to us.
If we are quiet and watch and listen carefully, there will be a lesson in what He is trying to show us. I call these times "God moments" and they draw worship out of us toward Him. Thanks to all who have responded for the confirmation of this. |

Hey, Charlie! Good to hear from you! Sometimes I picture God setting up an awesome daily treasure hunt for us. Then I wonder how disappointed He is when we don't look for it... As the world gets yuckier, I think that daily treasure can be a real life saver; a way to know that God loves us, even though we have to deal with the yuck, too. |

| When you walk with God, you are suppose to expect and He does deliver. |

| Thanks, Kathy! My youngest, Max, keeps trying to convince me to adopt a little Russian child. (He speaks some Russian and thinks he wants a younger brother or sister.) I told him he should go get his own, if he wants one so badly! :-) (I'd do it if God told me to, but thankfully that hasn't happened.) |

| Sounds like you got it! I always think of Job and know how much he went through but he held on and look at his reward in the end. |

| Hey, Valerie! Job is such an encouragement through times of discouragement, isn't he? |
|
|
| Congratulations, you picked out a name yet? Best of luck to you. |
