| Dare to Be a Daniel |

Do we as Christians distinguish ourselves by our exceptional qualities as Daniel did? I have a hunch that he just walked the walk of his beliefs without trying to "put on airs" and the reason he could do that is because God's Spirit lived within him, affecting all his decisions and actions for the good. If we are changed from the inside out (rather than the reverse of that) then godly qualities should be visible to others, right?
Character is what I'm getting at and integrity is what I think of first. Are those the traits that made Daniel stand out among all the administrators and satraps mentioned in this passage? It strikes me that this godly young man impressed everybody in such a positive---and maybe puzzling---way that the only thing they could think about to pick on him for was for something (or Someone) he believed in! No doubt they were jealous. But then when they checked out his belief system they still couldn't find anything to fuss about! Daniel was a true worshiper and his God was real.
Can any of this good stuff be said of us? As we prepare for the upcoming holidays let's try (again) for a fresh start, knowing that God will help us to be people of excellence.
6:3 6:2and over them three presidents, of whom Daniel was one, to whom these satraps should give account, so that the king might suffer no loss. 6:4 6:3Then this Daniel became distinguished above all the other presidents and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom. 6:5 6:4Then the presidents and the satraps sought to find a ground for complaint against Daniel with regard to the kingdom; but they could find no ground for complaint or any fault, because he was faithful, and no error or fault was found in him. |
