Very well said! The church, the gathering of believers is not simply 2 Christians gathering together but includes the church leadership which were gifts given by Christ to EQUIP the saiint to the work of the ministry. We must be disciiplined to grow AND the church is a corporate entity.

We are not John Wayne's each an island to himself that will assail the gates of HELL single-handedly. No, we need each other and Christ will marry the church (corporate). Do we seriously think that any one of us alone will be the Bride of Christ? He is an enormous God and requires an enormous wife! (hmmm that doesn't sound so good). Anyway, someone out there can word it better!

Thanks, Recon77. Our habits should be Jesus' habits. The fellowship of the saints is very important to the Christian walk.

Chris, I'm pretty sure you've read enough of my posts to know where I stand (I agree!). In fact, this was to be one of my future blogs, but the Lord put it on your heart b/c you are the one He chose to write it! .....BTW, you might want to reword the following:

"if you are married to some sorry man like I used to be"   (LOL)

YPC, Thou art "The Man!"  I have been going to church without hubby for 16 years!  He comes about 2 times a year, so we just never know when it will stick.  He does really like Pastor Mark.  I just leave it in God's hands.  I do know that Tommy is glad that I get "religion" into our children.

I love you guys.

We have to show our faith in order to share our faith.- VBS lesson this week.

YPC, there are many reasons people don't go to church. In our society today, it is easy to find reasons not to go. What frustrates me the most is when people claim that God has told them not to go. That is wacko, IMHO.

Everyone misses a Sunday every now and then. That isn't the issue, I think. It is the willingly disenfranchised heart that wants to be separate. I often find those same people are the ones that feel "left out".

Good post.

Voice, I am a firm believer in getting people involved according to the measure of their faith. In many CHurches, that is hard to do. You have the same people always doing everything and it is hard to get plugged in, or you have to plug in the way they want you to when you may not be wired that way.

I also find people who have not purposed in their hearts to go Church have often not purposed in their hearts to follow Jesus. I will never understand the people I have met that claimed to be saved, yet see no reason to go to Church. I always explain, "The Church was important enough for Jesus to die for it, shouldn't it be important enough for you to go?" I also explain, "If you want to make it through this life with a good Testimony, you are going to need the fellowship of other CHristians. You see, you are now part of a body. What happens when we seperate a part from the body, Can it survive on its own? No, it will die, decay, and rot."

Voice, I also have to wrestle with whether or not that person is saved. I know it's not for me to determine, but I have a heard time believing they wouldn't want to go. Even the hurt ones. I have been hurt in CHurch, but I can't just stop going. JMO

I don't understand either. The church is our new family. Does an earthly family grow by being apart? The most important institution is not the state nor the family but the church because only the church is eternal!! Also, how can we grow without the help of family AND God has instituted certain gifts of men (leaders in churches) to help us grow THAT WE might do the work of the ministry to the world outside.
