| My First Blog |
|
| |
My first BLOG. Since I was introduced to MyChurch by Joe back in February, I have wanted to write this BLOG. I have thought and prayed on what to say, and have not been comfortable with anything so far. I have always enjoyed hearing testimonies from those with a “Burning Bush” type experience, but honestly nothing like that ever happened to me. I was raised by Christian parents and was always involved with a Church body. All of my earliest memories where centered around the Church or with friends from the Church. My best friend growing up was a PK (Preacher’s Kid). Of course we got into more trouble than you can imagine, but that is a possible subject of another BLOG. My Mom was a stay at home Mom, so she was always there for my two brother and I. I accepted Christ at an early age, even though you would not have known it had you known me during my teen years and during my military service. Those are some days that I am not proud of. Let’s just say that during those days you would not want me to be a mentor to your son, and you would hope that your daughter did not know me. All of that aside I have found my way back to my faith. Now days I still struggle with my walk at times and go through the ups and downs like most of us. Difference is I know I am saved and it convicts me to live a different way. Of course I still have issues with my temper and my kids don’t always live like I would wish them to, but all I can do is turn it over to the Lord and let him do all the work. I have been greatly Blessed since joining MyChurch. I have learned from some of the scripture based comments, prayed with those having struggles and laughed with the playful ones. It is amazing to read some of these and feel like I have known some of you for a long time, even though I have not had the pleasure to meet any face to face. Well except for one friend on here that I have known for years. I know that this sounds more like rambling than a properly written thought, but as I have mentioned in comments on others BLOG, I have trouble with transferring my thoughts to writing. Hopefully now that I have gotten the first one out, I will be able to put more of my thoughts down like this. Thanks to all of those here that have already encouraged me and made me feel welcome. I honestly believe that the welcome mat is out for my family and I if we were ever traveling in your neighborhoods. |

Well I for one think it is a great blog. Sounds a bit like my childhood. I too was raised by Christian parents, got into some trouble but did a lot of mishaps with a first bad marriage. Love the people on MyChurch and would love to visit all someday. So a big welcome from me. God Bless |

Randy,
Your blog has just confirmed something the Holy Spirit has been urging me to do for some time now. That may be the very reason you wrote this. Inspired by God! Thanks!
Dave
P.S. God works in mysterious ways! Write on! |

You really were the "Prodigal Son" weren't you? It seems like a lot of Marines are like that. I know my husband was. Reading your blog sounded like John speaking when it came to the part about parents not wanting you to mentor to guys...etc. He's coming along though. As well as myself. The part about being raised in the church...that was ME. But, I'm not perfect either, I went through my rebellious stage. Luckily, for me AND my parents, it was only one summer. :) Thanks for a great blog! I look forward to the next one! Blessings! John and Amanda |

Randy, That's a great blog! Your life is a great reflection of mine. Personally, I can't think of any better background than yours! It's great to have Christian parents and a Mom who stayed home, IMNSHO. |

| Randy, I'm thrilled to read your first blog! I hope it's just the first of many. Like you, I have a pretty bland testimony, and I spent some years somewhat distant from God after initially being introduced to Him. But we're most definitely on the right track now, right? Amen! ~mike |

Thanks for the kind words everyone. It has given me a little more courage to do the next one. It really has blessed me and helped me focus on my walk since joining MyChurch and having these discussions. I do appreciate the kick in the rear that is sometimes needed and the ear to bend when I'm having a difficult time.
Thanks again everyone and hope to keep this up for years to come.

| Thank you Mary Ann, you are just too kind. BTW have I told you that Mary Ann is my mother's name? Knew there was something I liked about you. |

And she spells it right and everything!!! :-)
I'm named after my grandmothers... Ann and Mary.
Have an awesome weekend Randy! |

I'm catching up as well. Atta boy Randy..welcome to the world of blogging. Don't worry about what to write. Blogs are for putting down your thoughts on "cyber paper" and give others something to think and comment about.
Ya done gud bro - TX proud! |

Hi Randy! Thank you for asking me to be your friend. I liked the comment you added on the photo too. I think the first blog is the hardest blog, but you did great! I pray before and as I write, for the Holy Spirit to work through me as I write. And when I do, writing comes freely and natural, like my skin. I have learned from the blogs I read... they encourage me, make me think, ponder, wonder and cry. |
