I once heard Israel Houghton use this phrase during a worship set, and I'll never forget these words: "He is not mad at you, He is madly in love with you!" I think so many of us live our lives thinking that God must be mad at us for one reason or another. But the truth is that He loves us with an everlasting love. I think we probably think of love with human understanding, with how fickle we can be, and somehow think that God must be the same way. I just know too many Christians that struggle with this issue in their lives, including yours truly :)
Although we won't be able to fully comprehend the love of God on this side of heaven, I'm sure we're all aware that His love transcends any love we can imagine.
Let's not forget that when we do sin, we can certainly anger God. He is a God of wrath and judgement, as well as a God of love. But if we are His child, and sealed with with His Spirit, we can know that He loves us. When He sees us, He sees His Son. That's good to know! Isn't it?
I'll just keep this brief today, since I think the title was really all I wanted to say.
3:17 and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 3:18 may have power to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 3:19 and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fulness of God. |

| Do individual sins anger God? I'd be interested in doing a little study on that. It seems to me that God was more likely in scripture to get angry when his people as a whole turned away from him. Sue, this is a great message. In fact, we can never have too many reminders that God deals with us on the basis of his deep incomprehensible love for us! |

I take great consolation in the fact that while I'm more like those two sons, I have a Father who is always watching, and waiting, and patient with my foibles (Luke 15:11-32).
As per individual sin v communal sin I think both displease God. Otherwise the law given to Moses & the Holiness Code would be different. Broad and sweeping law like "have no strange gods before me" is both personal and communal while "do not commit adultery" is personal; adultery cannot be considered a "sin of the nation" but idolatry sure can be. Can we say Super Bowl Sunday???? |

| Our Lord and Savior is an awesome God. Even when He disiplines us, His love can't help but shine through. Even when He gives us something hard to go through, He's there holding out His arms to carry us through. Unfortunately most of us are so busy trying to get through whatever it is ourselves, on our own, looking all around for answers, that we are not looking in the right direction - UP! You know, when life knocks us down to our knees, instead of jumping up and dusting ourselves off, if we would just learn to stay down (on our knees) for awhile, seeking His face, praying for His answers; well, just maybe we would not get knocked down so often! | To jesusrestores, glad it touched you. Just remember: whatever you are going through, most importantly don't go through it alone. Satan can rip you apart. But when your attorney, your body guard, your Savior is Christ Jesus, and you maintain a close personal relationship with Him, HE WILL PROTECT YOU! Not saying nothing bad will ever happen, but He will always provide you a way out, provide His comfort, show His mercy and love, and shower you with His blessings!
