Greetings ... I decided to write this blog because after talking to friends and fellow Christians, and reading countless blogs, I have realized that many people and EVEN some Christians get either confused or use the terms Christianity and religion loosely (as though they are the same thing)??? I believe getting this difference right from the beginning and understanding the difference between these two big terms will be the solution to all those confusion amongst many Christians, atheists and many others. First things first - Let me define the terms above for a clearer picture. Religion: The dictionary defines a religion as a set of beliefs and practices often organized BY MAN around a supernatural being (i.e gods). Notice the ‘by man’ and not something from the supreme being, being worshiped in this case.
Now Christianity according to the Holy Bible is a Way of Life. It’s a personal relationship. Are you ready for this: Here we go --------
Christianity is the Divine nature of God made manifest in a human being – simply put, It is the divine and eternal life of God almighty lived through a person by the ability of the Holy Spirit.
Well what does it mean to be a Christian? Interesting …That will be another time. (Feel free to ask please) J
The Big difference is this: Religion is mans way of reaching out to God
But Christianity is God’s way of reaching out to man.
Reflect on this for a moment and realize how loving, awesome and supernatural this is.
So then wouldn’t you say that Christianity is Better than Religion? Of course.
As Christmas is around the corner (about 2 weeks and 2 days from now), this time of Advent is a great opportunity to reflect on and think about why you are celebrating Christmas and what implications it has on your life and the origin of Christmas, as in why it came around and for what. For some, eating turkey is a way of remembering the Birth of Jesus. J
So all in all, To live like Christ is to be a Christian.
Again: Remeber Jesus Christ is the reason for the season. So spread the Good news - Let this mission (spreading the Gospel) be your vision.
Merry Christmas. May You feel God's presence in the candles, that softly spread their glow at Christmas and may you experience the wonder of His abiding love, as He guides you, through each day of the coming year.
