28:19 Go ye therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit: In response to a blog entry by"Mike and Laura"called"Some Leave".It came to me,what are we here for.Are we who have been here(at your church) since God created dirt to sit in judgement of those who would dare to come through the doors of our sanctuary???Are we to decide not enough hymns are being used during worship,but instead those young people are using contemporary worship songs???Are we just there to warm the pew(my pew thank you,I've been here since this church started) or out of duty or obligation to tradition???Well as the scripture"commands"not suggests,we are to become disciples and then make disciples.You know the adage"Know Jesus and Make Him known".Is that what you are doing at church???In marketing one who counsels an opening business will ask"what is the first thing people are going to see"when trying promote their service.Well,what is the first thing people see when they come to your church???Do they see loving,caring,outreaching people OR do they see those judgemental stares,glances???Do they feel welcome???Do they feel SINCERITY or PHONINESS.JESUS is our example: 5:1 Be ye therefore imitators of God, as beloved children;
5:1 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
5:1 Let it then be your desire to be like God, as well-loved children;
5:1 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. Is THIS what we are doing???Let me make clear,some people were looking for ANY reason to leave and it wasn't anyone at the churches fault.However, I submit that if we would have paid attention and gently asked what was the problem,we may have been able to minister to "Some Leave"........By the way,reading the 5th chapter of Ephesians would be helpful to all of us.As far as that goes applying God's Word instead of just reading it would go along way also.....Please reference Mike and Laura's entry http://www.mychurch.org/blog/331847/Some-leave-because And then there is this... | | | It is sooooo easy to get a response from something a majority can relate to(thanks for the response to What Are We Here For).My Pastor will put out an announcement for ideas for different projects from time to time for example.Then the funny thing happens,while a lot of ideas will be given,no one wants to implement them!!! That is an exaggeration.The same people who do the work ALL of the time are there in force.The sad thing is a lot of the ideas are good.My Pastor will say to someone with a good idea,"you are just the person for the job".The response"oh Pastor I was just suggesting"..The same with intentions.There is an advertising campaign going on right now called"ALMOST GIVING".Almost giving is like NOT giving.Remember the bible warns us not to just pray and leave something alone.Praying for someone to be clothed,then not giving something to wear or praying someone to be fed and not giving them something to eat.Same thing.We have GOOD intentions,but are they Godly intentions???I,in my humble opinion believe if our intentions were GODLY,they would be full of ACTION!!!Referring back to my previous blog entry"What Are We Here For?",We are to fulfill Jesus' commission to us.Plain and simple.We make things harder than they really are.God will not send us into situations without being equipped.If you are failing in your mission asked yourself"is God in this?"In my experience I have been really fired up about doing something for the Lord,but find myself drug down and discouraged.I went to my Pastor only to find out that while what I was doing was good,it wasn't necessarily Godly.To sum this entry up.Don't almost give,almost say hello,almost check on an elderly person,almost give your tithe or offering,almost give TIME to family,almost give TIME to church work,ALMOST GIVE TIME TO GOD..... This time of year people are more aware of Jesus,let us let them see HIM!!!(this is a combination of 2 blog entries I made on Nov.13th and 14th of this year) |
