| Right Living Or Wrong Doing? |
|
| |
3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. 3:5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. 3:6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. Morality is not just about ethics or religion. It is practical. Wrongdoing always does the wrongdoer wrong. When you do wrong, you personally create pain and problems for yourself.
I sometimes will ask a group of people: “How many of you like liars?” I’ve never had anyone raise a hand in positive response to this question. Then I will ask: “How many of you lie?” and many hands will go up.
So think about this with me – if you don’t like liars, but you lie, how will you feel about yourself? That’s right. You won’t like yourself much because you have demolished your self-esteem. No one else may know that you told a lie, but deep down inside, you know that you are a liar. Ouch!
How about cheaters? If you don’t like cheaters, but you cheat, you have cheated yourself out of a clear conscience, self-respect, and guilt-free living. Truth is, we are not just punished for our wrongdoing. We are punished by it – even if nobody knows about it but us.
Solomon talks about “the stupidity of wickedness.” Wrongdoing just doesn’t make sense. Isn’t life difficult enough without our adding self-inflicted pain to it?
Why not make an all out effort to daily avoid all wrongdoing? It’s not easy to buck the culture and to triumph over temptations to do wrong, but it is definitely worth the effort.

I've been thinking about this with the application of relationships in mind.. particularly with my Turkish husband. It is so easy to be wrong here because everything is so different and cultures can collide!! Thank you for this post.. I needed it...

| Brother Steve, The words from a Brother in Christ that's in his presence now.Collie Turner told me years ago, you can't live wrong and die right with God. I still believe that with all my heart, hyprocrites go to hell. For those that won't go to church with a hyprocrite, will surely go to hell with them if their not right with God. |

How true it is. I try my best not to lie. I try my best not to delude myself about history. It is not easy, nor is it easy to forgive others who lie to me, but I know that I must in order to move forward, because, if it is admitted, I must forgive, even if I cannot forget.

| Praise: Your words about Hell refer to mankind's greatest tragedy, that even one human would go there. I Peter says that "God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." The thought of someone going to Hell should make all Christians weep. |

I definitely want to be right with God. Everyday we are faced with choices to be made. Do I obey God or do I sin? Do I willfully sin and ask for forgiveness later? We are in a battle, walking in the spirit or walking in the flesh. I know I'm doing my leval best, and it is not always easy. Thanks Steve. |

On the subject of lying, might I recommend Mark Twain's short story called "Was It Heaven? Or Hell?" And we can question day and night why individuals contradict themselves when they say they dislike liars but lie or they dislike cheaters yet they cheat, but that would bring us no where. This kind of behavior has been a common question for centuries, however, all we can do about it is show them perspectives of "right" and "wrong" and let those people decide which path they wish to take. |

Steve,,,I am called to strive to enter into the peace of the Gospel. Any ministry is not inteded to be purpose driven. It is merely an overflow of fellowship you personally have with the Lord. Performance driven so called Christianity leads to burn outs. What is the word? The word is Jesus.I have nothing to prove or gain. We are called to the banquet table, not to serve ourselves but to be given life by Christ.
Steve listen
If we could indeed perform, Jesus would never need die |
