15:1 LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? 15:2 He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. 15:3 [He that] backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour. 15:4 In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the LORD. [He that] sweareth to [his own] hurt, and changeth not. 15:5 [He that] putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these [things] shall never be moved.
So the question is: Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? Who shall dwell in thy holy hill? (Psalms 15:1) Here are the 10 things (with some explanation) that Psalms 15 identifies as the traits of the man who dwells on God's holy hill: - He walks blamelessly - There is no questionable behavior in this man, he does what is good and just and merciful, sinful talk and action is far from him.
- Does what is right - In all circumstances this man strives to please God and carry out the life that Jesus Christ modeled.
- Speaks truth in his heart - Integrity spews forth from his soul, there is no falsehood, no double-mindedness, no deceit in him.
- Does not slander - His mouth does not utter words against others, he deals with issues directly with those involved, if he has nothing good t osay about someone he remains silent.
- Does not reproach his friend - Anger and correction and always having to be right are not his ways, he lovingly helps others and doesn't try to remove everyone else's plank.
- Despises what is evil - What God hates...he hates, he does not involve himself in sin but flees from it and never justifies wrong doing.
- Honors those who fear God - Praises and follows those who love God, looks for mentors and puts into practice the wisdom of those who have gone before and remains humble.
- Is consistent and keeps his word - Does what he says he'll do, accomplishes what he promises, does not waver or sway or bend to others.
- Does not borrow from others and charges interest - He is marked by generosity and kindness, looks to help others and benefits everyone rather than himself.
- Does not take a bribe against the innocent - He works to help those in need and those who cannot help themselves, recognizes when others are acting wrongly and does not get involved.
