With Mitt Romney in the limelight nowadays, Mormonism is on the front page of the papers. People are asking a lot of questions. Talk show host Hugh Hewitt has even written a book called A Mormon in The White house? With his national talk show reaching millions of people and a best selling book, Mormonism is front and center around the nation.

    I as a Christian do not agree with some of the extreme views that say "A vote for Romney is a vote for Satan" but I do have some concerns. My main concern is the dishonesty and secrecy of the Mormon church itself. For a while now the Mormon church has been trying to sound more and more like it is just another Christian denomination and many times they sound like it. They use the same vocabulary we do but with very different meanings. I remember the first time I went to a Mormon service. Afterward we attended one of their inquirer classes. After leaving I wondered to myself whether or not I was wrong about my assessment of the church as a cult. They sounded so "Christian." After a few more visits and a little probing, the chasm between Christianity and Mormonism began to become clear.

    The LDS church continues this campaign and I have observed some blatant dishonesty. Gordon Hinckley, the current president and prophet of the LDS church, when asked about God having once been a man, dodged the question by saying "That is getting into some pretty deep theology that we don't know very much about." Anyone who know anything about Mormon teaching and history knows this is not true. The only difference now is that they don't stress the teaching as much in an attempt to sound more "Christian." Even a non-Christian hearing such a teaching would know they were not just another Christian denomination. Mormons keep their more controversial doctrines secret until the person has already joined the church.

    The purpose of one of our websites www.whatmormonsdonttell.com is to expose those teachings. We want to get the information into the hands of those looking into the Mormon church so that they can make and informed decision. It makes my blood boil when I hear Mormons purposefully dodge questions that deal with these doctrines. I listened the other day to a portion of the Allen Combs radio show that featured Bill Keller, a Christian (Liveprayer.com), and Scott Gordon, a Mormon (fairlds.org.) Though I will agree that Bill Keller was obnoxious and out of line much of the time, Scott Gordon, when asked about God being a man and man becoming a God said he did know much about it. Now that is an outright lie. I wrote him an email (It was nice I promise) asking why he dodged the question and was dishonest, but have not heard from him. I am guessing I won't.

    Don't believe the lie that Mormonism is just another Christian denomination. They are not Christian! They hold to works based exaltation (If I used the word Salvation here they would say I am wrong. Again they use different meaning for the same words) believe in a different Jesus and depart from orthodox Christianity in almost every area.
