| How Awesome is God? |
|
| |
It is evident in every morning sunrise, every flower that blooms, every child that is born…it is visible in the rain that falls to wash the earth, the mountains, the oceans…but how Awesome is God? What has He done in your life that is awesome, beyond comparison, something you KNOW is from God?
I will tell you about a couple of things that have happened in my life that I know are from God…little blessings to show how awesome He is… One snowy morning, I was making a mushroom delivery…my husband and I have our own business growing mushrooms for those that don’t know…I have quite a ways to travel on these deliveries, usually this particular one takes an hour and a half one way…on this morning, it was much longer! I was traveling on roads that were not plowed, with close to 6 inches of snow on them, if not more. I was heading at a rather slow pace on a two lane state highway. These highways are sometimes hilly and curvy, and it was at one such point that I saw a semi-truck coming around a curve and down a hill, going too fast for the condition of the road. His back trailer started to fishtail, and I mean a BIG fishtail. He was swinging over into the other lane, and then back to the side of the road. I thought to myself, he is going to hit me!!! At that point I cried out to God to protect me…something in my mind, perhaps common sense, perhaps God, told me to get over as far as possible. Of course, there was a snow filled ditch at the side of the road, and I wasn’t sure how far was safe to get over, but I got over as much as I safely could, and came to a complete stop. I prayed as he came closer, and breathed a sigh of relief and thanksgiving as he passed me without hitting me…his trailer fishtailed away from me as he came past. I was able to see in my rear view mirror, that he finally got his truck under control, and took a deep breath and drove a little farther up where I knew there was a parking lot I could pull off in. I was shaking like a leaf, but I know that God was there with me and saved me from having a terrible accident, which could have possibly been fatal for me.
Another time, I had a cat, who got very, very sick. Now if you have read my other blogs, you know my cats are very important to me, so when one of them gets sick, I am very concerned. This cat had an infection in his blood, we believe from a tooth infection. He was not eating, not using the litter box, not drinking, and just moping around. He was taken to the vet and admitted to be put on IV fluids and antibiotics. A few days went by with no change, and I really thought I was going to have to put him to sleep. I had been praying this whole time for God to heal him, if that was His will. The third day of his stay at the vet hospital, I was able to get him to lick some baby food off of my finger. I decided at that point to take him home, and try to nurse him back to health. I figured he would be happier if he were there, and if things didn’t improve, I would have him put to sleep. Long story short, I was able to get him to recover completely, although it took a very long time. I know that God answered my prayers, and gave me enough daily improvements in his health to encourage me to keep trying to make him well.
So there you have my examples of God’s awesomeness. I’d like to hear what yours are.

| Almost every day I see the Lord's hand of protection and/or His favor at work. It is there for us, we just need to recognize and believe that HE has given His angels charge over us! Glad to hear your story. I have one very simular to that one. God literally cleared the road when my car went out of control. There was plenty of traffic before and after the incident. My car spun around across 4 lanes on a major highway! |

Lisa, that sounds scary, and I am glad that you and your son were not hurt. I have had things like that happen, when God is trying to tell me to slow down and listen. If only we did what our little gut instincts tell us. Thanks for the post! |

There are so many examples, it's hard to choose which to tell! My mom miscarried 7 times(!) before having me & I hoped I wouldn't have the same fate. My 1st preg. took 2yrs. to happen & only after my husband & I fully gave our lives to being obedient to God. (the pregnancy pretty much happened the next day :) The second preg. ended @ 12 wks. so when the 3rd preg. happened, my hubby & I had the elders of our church pray over me & annoint w/oil. Happy to say the pregnancy & birth were very UNeventful :) That's a small example of how I see God being awesome in my life! |

It's amazing to me how God answers our "simple" prayers daily. Sometimes I still have trouble letting Him do his work when I have my own timeline - even when I have proof that He hears my prayers. A few years ago, I was desperately searching for a new apartment. I loved where I was living, but the new neighbor downstairs was an alcoholic and too rowdy for me to deal with any longer. One night, my friend called to tell me her Dad had died. She said while they were waiting, her brother reminded her that "Thy will be done" kept running through his mind. After we hung up, I told God that I too would let Him do His will for me. Two weeks later I found my present apartment, which I love. The 2nd was when I had been stressing a bit about selling my parents' house. Early one Thursday morning I promised God I'd turn it all over to Him and wouldn't even think about the house. I asked Him to find a nice family for the house. On Sunday, my realtor stopped me in church to tell me there was a Christian family with 2 children who wanted to buy the house. There are so many ways that God has answered my prayers. He watches over those who don't even know it. He creates beauty and miracles every day. I have learned to count my blessings even when terrible things are happening in my life. There is always something good in every day. |

Speaking of Jesus guarding us in times of danger, I hope y'all know the song "Jesus Take The Wheel". If not, let me know.....it has been a top song on country charts for a while...or was a few months ago.
