This is a topic I have taken a person interest in for some time now. As a christian, my growing concern for the world around me, has left me with many sleepless nights and each night I have sat in my living room just browsing the web, pilfering through forums and the like. The more time I spent on the Internet the more I realized why our world is so lost and Christians as a whole are being beaten back out of the world's picture. Everyone knows the world is going to crap but most non-Christians either; a) can't figure out why or b) think the world is fine just the way it is. Every Christian out there KNOWS why the world is slowly dying and most choose to do nothing about it, even though we are ALL commanded to intervene. Now I'm not going to go on a rampage of why most of us sit around and do nothing, all I'm going to do is point out what is happening to make us lose ground and say that I will no longer be a person who just sits on the side.
In terms of religious beliefs there are two kinds of people, those how are and those who are not decided in it. The ones who are decided in thier religious beliefs can further be broken down by there religion or lack there of, in the atheist's case. Now as a christian we are commanded to be prepared. 4:1 I charge [thee] therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; 4:2Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4:4 And they shall turn away [their] ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. 4:5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. 4:6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished [my] course, I have kept the faith: 4:8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
We are to be preach, evangelize, and be ready at all times. How many of us are ready? If an undecided person was standing between you and an atheist. Would you be able to convert the undecided person to Christianity, or would they believe the atheist over you. This happens every day and millions of times each day. Realistically a person who is decided in their religion is not going to convert easily if at all, but it can happen so we must preach to them as well. However we are supposed to be guides and teachers of the world and we could be evangelizing to those who are undecided and show them the truth rather than them believing a lie. This is what is happening all around us, we are losing the civilization of humanity because we are not doing our divine duty. We are not prepared as we should be and so we sit around doing nothing, losing the world.
Just so I'm not misunderstood, I'm not saying go door to door and shove your beliefs down every body's throats. This approach will not help your cause at all, plus its not how Jesus taught people. We are to be kind and gentile but smart and cunning. 10:16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
Cramming your religion down their throats is not being cunning or gentile, learning and teaching is being cunning and gentile. I have seen countless debates lost by Christians that were not prepared for the questions thrown at them. Countless times they were thrown down for one reason, they didn't have the knowledge. The verse in 2 Timothy says "be ready". If someone started asking you questions would you be ready? Now I'm not talking about the easy questions like "What and why do you baptize?" I'm talking about "For justice to exist, the punishment must fit the crime". No matter how many bad deeds one commits in the world, there is a limit. Yet, Hell's punishment is infinite. So where's the justice?"How many of you would be ready to answer that question if you were asked by an atheist? If we are to be ready the we should all be able to answer that question on the spot. Sadly however, as a whole we are not ready. This is the reason we are being pushed back out of society and out of the world. We are at war and losing and don't even know it. One trip to the atheist's website proves it within about 5 minutes of reading. The Atheists and "freethinkers" as they have so dubbed themselves have declared war on Christianity and are winning. They are converting our society and world and we aren't even able to slow them down. However we are also commanded to not be quarrelsome and so should be weary of the most common pitfall of this route, arguments. If you have made your point well and they still chose to ignore you then walk away its their choice not yours. This goes in-line with being cunning and gentile, no one likes an angry man even if he is right, by arguing you are just shooting yourself in the proverbial foot of religion. But you should also be aware that debates are not quarrelsome and are different than arguments, simply answering and posing questions is just a way of teaching. I believe it is time we started arming ourselves with knowledge and being ready for anything and teaching the word. We are against some of the smartest and most cunning and devious of people in the world we should be prepared to defend ourselves against it and correct what is being spread across our world. |
