This is a somewhat of a spoof on Mike and Laura's blog. I did want to say, I do not disagree with their post; in any way, shape, or form. It is just amazing to me that there are always two perspectives when it comes to our perfection. Ours (as Mike and Laura so perfectly described) and Gods as I will make an imperfect attempt to display.
10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once [for all].
10:14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. 10:17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. Paul, in his first letter to Timothy said that he was the chief of all sinners, 1Timmothy 1:15. As Paul grew in his understanding of who Christ was, he realized his unworthiness of salvation, and how amazing God's grace was opon him. But Paul also realized his position in Christ, he knew that he had access to the Father, (who cannot accept anything less that perfect) based upon the perfect work of Christ. When Paul wrote to the Corinthians, he didn't have much good to say but he did tell them: 5:21 For he hath made him [to be] sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. We are not perfected in this flesh, but in God's eyes we are pefectly righteous because of what Christ has done for us. As Hebrews 10:14 said (above) we are perfected (notice, past tense) forever. Gayle Erwin said once that when God looks at us, he looks at us with Christ colored glasses. I guess those would be Son Glasses, someone else once joked. It is good to be aware of what a sinner I am, but it is also good to know that I can approach the throne room of grace at any time, and be accepted as perfect, because of what Jesus has done for me. It is never based upon my goodness, works or faithfulness that God accepts be, but solely upon what Jesus has accomplished, and I am thankful for that. So when it comes to my perfection...I can easily be counted among the perfect, when I put my full trust in Jesus Christ for my salvation. And the saying is fulfilled in my life; 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Blessings, Pastor Mike |
