To add a comment to "Does your spirituality hinge on how life treats you?"

The Lord says in His word to rejoice in the good and bad times. Sometimes it is very hard to rejoice in the storm but when we trust in Him, He will be with us.  I had to learn not to focus on my circumstances because He is in control of everything and not me.

perhaps not "rejoice" in the situations. But rejoice God is with me through all things.

Thanks for the comments Jan & GA.  It is very hard to rejoice in the times of trials.  Those are the times that we need to desperately lean into Him for strength.  He promises to work all things for the good for those that love Him.
My answer to this question is that spirituality did depend on how life treated me at one moment during my walk.  For a week I was mad at God for a trial, blaming Him for it and turned away.  He remained faithful, waiting for me to come to my senses.  That trial wound up working for the good.  We see things on a very small scale and our path is crooked, His is always straight.  Now when faced with a trial, I trust in Him and do His will even if it doesn't make sense to me or the world (but then again none of what we do does the world understand).  For He is all knowing and perfect in His wisdom.  How can my own knowledge compare?  Although I may not like the trial, I do rejoice that He cares enough about me to do what is best in spite of me.
