| From Emanuel to Jesus Christ |
|

I have been pondering the names of God and I am stuck with the thought that His name was changed from Emanuel to Jesus Christ. Does anyone know why the name change? I just saw that today's reading is Isaiah 7/14. hmmmmm....... |

| Hey precious...I don't think it's so much a name *change*...it's just revealing the NAME of God which is JESUS....Matthew 1:23....Behold, the virgin shall become pregnant and give birth to a Son, and they shall call His Name Emmanuel, which, when translated, means God with us...Remember Jesus always told us in scripture that He came in His Fathers Name....God the Fathers Name is JESUS ;o) |

http://www.ldolphin.org/Names.html .. ....I google searched under (names of God), and here is the link which gives a really extensive explaination of the names of God. Jesus in Hebrew (Yshua) means (Jehovah is Salvation). Christ is equivalent to the Hebrew (Messiah (Meshiach) means (The Anointed One).
When I became born-again, I went throught a (wilderness experience). I had many nightmares and trials and everytime I called the name Jesus, peace would flood my mind. That is when I realized the POWER in that name. Some people act like they are going crazy when I call that name. Many people will pray and not say (in the name of Jesus Christ). Why? There is POWER in that name. When I call that name I am calling on the Almighty Creator of heaven and earth. The alpha and omega. The King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Oh what a wonderful Saviour! He owns everything and anything. He owns my soul, purchased with His pure blood, not blood tainted by human copulation, because Mary was a virgin. There is POWER in the BLOOD. |

| Hello my friend Margie - You may want to check this link. It will bless you tremendously. I thought I would melt when I read about my Saviour. There is just something about that name. People say God all the time and nothing. Say Jesus in acknowledgement that He came as Saviour, and WOW!. The Holy Spirit floods your soul with love so strong you must know there is divine connection. Well I am celebrating my Saviour's birthday, because if He was not born He could not have died. I will celebrate His death also. Both occasions should be celebrated, because they are the two MOST important occasions ever experienced in all of mankind's history on this planet. Alleluia!!!!! JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON. Emanuel meaning God with us. Jesus meaning Saviour. Christ meaning the anointed Word. In combination He is was and always will be the great I AM. Alleluia. I am having church all by myself and it is GOOD! Alleluia!!! I bow my soul before my great Saviour, Messiah, God is with me. God is in me. I am one with Him. The book of John tells me who I am In Him. Alleluia. Happy Birthday Jesus. Anyone want to celebrate with me? |

[star!] | Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
Matthew 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
Look really hard here at those verses. Matthew 1:23 really lets us know what this means. That Isaiah 7:14 being translated says they shall call his name "God with us". This is another thing that we call Jesus. The reason I say to look really hard is because of this, look at the wording, "shall call his name", and then take a look at Isaiah 9:6, where several Titles are given as Titles that "his name shall be called". Now nobody asks why his name wasn't Wonderful instead of Jesus do they? :)
Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Travis,
Thank you for even deeper revelation of G-d revealed my friend. WOW! What a wonderful Savior and counselor. These are just other "titles" of this omnipresent, omnipotient, omnisufficient G-d. I exhalt this wonderful Savior who loves His creation so much He will choose to come into the world and die for us, just to save us from our "sinfull" selves.
Shalom to you my friend. Your sister in Christ Marcia |
