"Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear." Ephesians 4:29 NASB
"For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart." Matthew 12:34b NASB
"What am I full of?" I asked myself last night as I spent some time in meditation and prayer. As I began to write in my journal all that was in my heart, I discovered so much. Now, I don't know about you, but I take inventory of my life most everyday. I want to make sure that my life is full of purpose. Tomorrow is never promised. I want those around me to know I love them. I want them to see Jesus in me every chance I get. This means, I have to die daily. Now, to some that statement makes no sense, but spiritually speaking, this means that my ways, my desires must become extinct and replaced with the desires and thoughts of Christ, the one, true and perfect Savior. My words must become His words. What I speak, must be what is good and uplifting and edifying to those around me. This isn't easy! I'm so human and full of flaws!
So how is it done? Glad you asked! The only way to transform the way we think and put on the mind of Christ is to digest His Word. When we take the time for everything else, we'll be full of everything else. The same goes for the Word of God. If we discipline ourselves to reading, studying and knowing His Word, we'll know Him better and think more like Him. Makes sense, huh?!?! I'm finding it to be true. How about you?
Take time today to read God's Word! Pray and ask God to reveal Himself to you in a new way today. Fill up on something wholesome and true, meaningful and life changing... fill up on the Word! :) |
