Some would argue that Jesus and God are one in the same, and they would be right. But you have to believe that They are also individual (each) two different entities, or you will not understand the bible and worse yet, you may never be saved. But for those of you that understand and believe this, consider the followig:
God gave us the perfect law (the 10 commandments). I call it perfect because it really is. 1. because it is His Law and He is perfect. 2. if you study it (each one individually) and contrast them with all we know about man, life, and being created, the law is perfect. Sadly, we were never able to follow (keep, obey) the Law on our own.
Now, we know that these were not just rules layed out to see if we would obey Him or not, but are (actually, in reality) expressions of His Love. You see, as the creater, God knows what is best for us and is trying to guide us toward the very best that life here has to offer. The law provides harmonious balance between fellow man and his Creator. But God also knew we would never be able to follow the commandments. So, with foreknowledge, and out of His Love (Agape) for us, He gave (unto death) (Himself) Jesus Christ for us as the Way to bring us into a right relationship with Him. And so, Trusting in and Relying Upon Jesus, we can now, and for all of eternity be with God.
John 5:24 I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, the person whose ears are open to My words [who listens to My message] and believes and trusts in and clings to and relies on Him Who sent Me has (possesses now) eternal life. And he does not come into judgment [does not incur sentence of judgment, will not come under condemnation], but he has already passed over out of death into life.
Continueing on with this thought, we look in Mat 22:34-40, where Jesus is asked about the 10 Commandments.
36Teacher, which kind of commandment is great and important (the principal kind) in the Law? [Some commandments are light--which are heavy?] What is interesting is that instead of picking out any one of the 10, He (Jesus) says, 37And He replied to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind (intellect). 39And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as [you do] yourself.
Now keep in mind that Jesus did not come to replace the Law, but to fullfill the Law.
Matthew 5:17 Do not think that I have come to do away with or undo the Law or the Prophets; I have come not to do away with or undo but to complete and fulfill them.
So what is God doing by what seems to be a contradiction in Jesus' reply? *We said earlier that man could not keep the 10 Commandments. Even to master nine of them and mess up one,... we fail at all of them. Further, we know that by giving us these two new commands, that Jesus is not saying that God was wrong in giving the 10. Nor is He replacing them with these two. What is happening in these passages is the Greatest expression of Gods Love for you. Heres the thing. 1. God loves us and the original law was and is still perfect. 2. We cant keep the law and God still loves us. 3. God Provided 'Himself' as payment for our inability, and 4. He has given us a new law that completes the original law.
You see, In the fullfillment of: ' Love the Lord and Love one another' Law, you can actually keep (obey) the 10 commandments.
Further, as you make mistakes in the Law of Love, you are also covered in Christ. This means that when God looks to see if you are keeping the Perfect Law, all He can see is the Righteousness of Himself, Jesus Christ. It is a Love that no one in the Universe could create. In Fact, no one did create love. The Bible says in I John, chapter 4, that God is Love. Love is what God is. 8 He who does not love has not become acquainted with God [does not and never did know Him], for God is love. I love you. |
