I love carols and didn't even know that verse where the soul felt its worth. I have been kinda low today but just told a friend that I know that I am nothing without Him but with Him I have purpose. I have a new appreciation of this carol and probably will sing it till my son tells me again I am making his ears bleed. lol

I don't sing well, but do sing regardless, if it is unto Him. Thanks for another fantastically wonderully deliciouso message brother.

Thanks for the comments :-)

Juanita, the heart sings far louder than the vocal cords! ;-)  I have a hard time singing O Holy Night w/o shedding tears...that line, "Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth" has choked me up almost every time!

What a wonderful insight into that carole that we have heard for many years. Thanks for bringing the words into focus to share the joy that is contained in its message. When I hear it, it does bring worth to my soul and lifts my spirit now that I think of it. Sometimes I didn't stop to think of why. May you and your family be filled with the peace of Christmas.

Wow, Mike, this song must have really touched your heart, just like it did mine.  This past week I kept hearing it on the radio and me and the kids would start singing it.  It has just become one of my favorite this week, so I thought it was awesome that you put it in your blog.

Terrific blog, Mike.  You quoted one of my favorite carols.  The next line "Fall on your knees, o hear the angels voices"  is my response to my soul feeling its worth, the hope, and joy I feel at the knowledge of my redemption.  How could I not fall to my knees in reverent worship of the One who has given so much for me?

The next chorus includes:
The King of kings lay thus lowly manger;
In all our trials born to be our friends.
He knows our need, our weakness is no stranger,
Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!
Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!
Oh, how very good it is to have a God who understands us--in our weaknesses and follies.  Who wants to call us friend.

The final chorus makes my heart trip with love for those around me, cry for the lost, and want to share the freedom Christ so preciously purchased with all I come in contact with.
Truly He taught us to love one another,
His law is love and His gospel is peace.
Chains he shall break, for the slave is our brother.
And in his name all oppression shall cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
With all our hearts we praise His holy name.
Christ is the Lord! Then ever, ever praise we,
His power and glory ever more proclaim!
His power and glory ever more proclaim!
I will proclaim His power and glory forevermore.

My heart does sing!!!

Oh Coreena, that's awesome!!! Yes I would have (and easily could have) included the entire carol in the blog, but decided to keep it to the part I still have ringing in my head. THANK YOU for finishing it up! Those words give me the chills, I have such a hard time singing this song through w/o my voice breaking up!

Love this song. It's my moms favorite. This song & all of the sights & sounds of Christmas have come alive for me in the past 4 years.B/C of traumatic events that began on Christmas day as a 10 year old child,Christmas was ruined for me for 26 years. The season would put me in a funk that would last til spring. After becoming a commited Christian, guilt would be added upon this funk,b/c I knew Jesus was the reason 4 the season.God healed me by the birth of our "surprise" son 2 weeks b4 Christmas.Christmas has became as real & fresh as if I were a child.,God gave me "THE THRILL OF HOPE & MY WEARY SOUL REJOICES."

  [star!]
I have sung this song acapella every Christmas Eve at a candle light service, most recently at our new church.  I do believe this is one of the most heartfelt praise songs anyone has ever written and it is a thrill to sing it to our Heavenly Father!!!
