So last night was the concluding session of THP We had a massive potluck and public testimonies... including mine. This was my first testimony, and although I was a little nervous, I'm very glad I did it. Several people, including strangers, went up to me afterwards and thanked me for sharing. I had mine completely written out and was practically reading it. But others that shared went up without any notes, and just started speaking ad-hoc. I admire that gift of public speaking... I thanked Pastor David, Warren, and Dan for leading and challenging me during this 11-week session. They've been awesome mentors, albeit for just a short time. I would thank them here, although I'm pretty sure they don't know about MyChurch. To be honest, I'd be surprised if they knew what a blog was I once emailed David a Youtube link, and he didn't know what to do with it Dan also spoke. He talked about how The River brazenly invites its members to be uncomfortable... to address painful or taboo issues. It calls you out and challenges you to step up. I've been asked to step up in other churches, but The River seems different. It seems there is no agenda other than a spiritual one - no side benefit to the pastor. No ego. The Healing Path is David's thing. There is no paid seminar that's being developed, no book deal at the end of the road, no conference that the pastor is trying to organize. There is barely any recognition for David's work here other than from the broken souls like myself. And I have a feeling that is exactly the way he wants it... |
