Great question according to the Hebrew Calendar Sept. 29 of 2008 was the New Year. But it changes every year because the Hebrew calendar is based on Lunar.(the moon) Now the question is if Sept 29 was is the new year why is passover 7 months later oh I'm so confused HELP!!  Chapter 12 verse 2

Hey, Rick and Lydia:  Hopefully I can shed some insight on this.  Chuck Missler does some great teaching on the Hebrew calandars and what he brings out is that the answer to this is actually found in the readings.  In
Exodus 12:2. God tells them to reset their calandar and to make that the first month.  So from this time forward the Jews had their civil calandar which Rick referred to but then they had a Religeous calandar that was different.  On the religeous calandar Nisan became the first month.  This equates to the March/April time frame for us.  So Lydia if you are trying to put this in our time frame, just think of passover as being right before when we celebrate Easter.  Hope this helps

The new moon on our calendar lets you know that it is a new month for the Jews.  They also have 30 days only on their calendars - at least, I'm pretty sure about the 30 days.
