This too is an adventure in relationship, for in my experience it is possible to confuse genuine faith that automatically inspires correct speech and action with pretending or presumption. Presumption is inspired by the temptation "If you really believed that then..." it is the same thing that Jesus faced when tempted by the Devil: "If you are really the son of God then...". Pretending is presumption in another form, it says things like "Now, since I really believe this then I...". With the heart a man believes...genuine faith comes from the heart and is put their by a rhema [spoken word] of the Lord from the Logos [written word]. We should also pay careful attention to the fact that Jesus never prayed for the sick...He always spoke to the mountain (spoke to the problem)...sometimes He laid hands on them at the same time. In the case of this song the woman had heard what Jesus was doing and believed, in her heart, that if she touched the hem of his robe she'd be healed. In these cases Jesus always created the person's faith (the violent take the kingdom by force). I've seen more instant healing in the ministry of Andrew Wommack (who teaches along these lines) than any other ministry that I have personal experience with. At the same time we are admonished by James to call for the elders to pray for us (lay hands and anoint with oil) if we are sick...and we'll recover. Blessings! Craig |
