| What If Jesus Was Not Committed To The Cause? |
|
| |
Before time began, God, His Son, & the Holy Spirit had a perfect relationship. Their fellowship with each other was in one accord. The angels were created to continue in fellowship with them. Trouble started when Lucifer wanted to be God and sin began. Knowing what was to follow, God turned to His Son and asked if He was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice and with love for His Father Jesus committed to His Father’s will. God kept His promise to His people, sent His Only Son, and let Him die on the cross because He loved sinners and had promised to save them. He had an obligation to us not because of who we are but because He had made that commitment to Adam so long ago (Genesis chapter 3). God cannot lie and His Word cannot be broken. Jesus Christ, because He loved His Father, left His home in heaven. A perfectly beautiful home with everything He needed and with His Father. He left heaven to be born as a baby dependent on Mary and Joseph for everything He needed. At anytime He could have said “No, I want to come back home, Father”, but instead He was committed to His Father’s Will. So many people don’t take the word commitment seriously. Sometimes I feel we as Christians are more at fault then the rest. Taking that step of faith to become a true believer is one commitment that is hard but might be the easiest in a Christian’s life. That step to commit to tithing to the church is harder, but not impossible. To commit to serving the Lord is a different thing altogether. Me, serve the Lord. How? Some think that you have to be a missionary in another country. Others say that they have no special talent to use for His service. I can think of three great men in the Bible who were just men and one just a boy when the Lord called them to work for Him. It was their willingness to commit to serve the Lord that caused the Lord to use them to serve Him and bring glory to Himself. The Lord called to the boy Samuel in the middle of the night not once but three times and Samuel answered the Lord saying, “Speak for thy servant heareth” (1 Samuel 3:10), Isaiah answered the Lord, “Here am I, send me” (Isaiah 6:8) when he realized that the need was great to tell others, and Saul (Paul) was blinded but when he realized that it was the Lord to whom he was talking to and asked “What wilt thou have me to do?” (Acts 9:6). All three of these men knew not what God wanted them to do but they were willing to commit to doing it. Commitment is standing true to what you have promised to do. The thesaurus uses the following words as substitutes for commitment: obligation, promise, dedication, pledge, vow, and assurance. All these words have a strong positive meaning and not to be taken lightly. The Bible says that to break a vow to the Lord is sin. “ When thou shalt vow a vow unto the Lord thy God, thou shalt not be slack to pay it; for the Lord thy God will surely require it of thee, and it would be sin in thee” (Deuteronomy 23:21). So when we make a commitment it is just like making a vow. We need to take seriously the commitments we make to the Lord and be diligent to complete the tasks He has for us to do.

Wow Pam, that was deep! You definately have teaching gifts. Why don't you have your own profile page? Just a thought. I know the two become one, but it would be nice if this said "Pam's Blog" up top :)
Very nice girlfriend. The Lord spoke to me through your words, which were really His. Keep blogging!

Interesting link Sue. It took me to MY homepage!
(btw, re:separate profile pages, I think it's pretty cool when couples or even families have joint profiles... originally our intention was to both use ours, which is why I sign virtually every post w/my name, and why our first several blogs began w/Mike says.... Of course, when signing up jointly, a wife can't star her husband's blog! hehe) |

| Yeah Mike, If you read the follow up comment right under the first, it says that the link will take you to your home page (whoever you are) if you are logged on. It will only take you to a new sign up page if you are not currrently a MyChurch member. I figured this out when I tested the link and it took me to MY homepage :) But when I logged off, it took me to a page where I could open a new account. Try it! A new form of blog pluggin'. |
