When your car is giving you trouble, without hesitation you take to the auto shop. Why? Because you can't take any chances with it. You need a dependable, reliable and useful form of transportation. When an earring breaks you take it to the jewelry store to be fixed. Why? Because you want it to be useful again. When a vessel breaks, gets a crack or becomes dull, you take it to the potter's house to be fixed. Why? Because it needs to carry water or flowers. The reality is that we have no use for things that are broken.
When we are going through trials that are hard to endure, our lives are broken and we feel that we cannot go on. This is not time to give up but to go down to the Potter's House. There we get restored, reshaped or remolded. Why do we go there? Because we want to be useful, because we need to able to hold the full Glory of God. That is how much He loves us. He loves us so much... to the point of restoration instead of discarding us. It is not about the trial or who is inflicting the pain, rather in what strength we are facing our trials. Great news! You are not alone. All Christians go through tribulations. It is not because our lack of faith or because of sin. It is the testing of our faith that develops perseverance. The Father needs to know how much of His Glory we can handle. He wants to bless us and fill us with his love. Thus, I choose to place my life into the Potter's hand.
After a great victory over Baal's Prophets, Elisha found himself running for his life. In a moment, he was on top of the mountain celebrating his victory. The next moment he was running for his life. He felt that his situation was so bad that he lay down and wished to die. He was broken... so broken that the scripture said that he did not want to go on. He really wanted to die. But.. what a surprise awaited him when the angel of the Lord woke him up and said, "Arise and eat." (1 King 19:4) Elisha saw only his brokenness, but God saw his potential. It took more than one attempt by the Angel to get Elisha moving and from there he went to the Potter's House. The Lord gave Elisha strength to go to the mountain to meet with him at the Potters house. Today you may be seeing your brokenness but God is seeing your potential. He is not seeing where you are but rather where He plans to take you. He will give you the strength to go down to the Potter’s House.
Do you want to be made new? Do you want a new beggining, a fresh start? Go, then, to the Potter's House to be made whole. I want to be new. I want to be restored. If you need to find me... I'll be in the Potter's House! May the Lord continue to bless you.
40:1 Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. |
