I am German & English - so I do not know where it comes from, however; from most favorite food when it is cold is Pea Soup - next would be beef stew.

I do NOT enjoy cooking, but love eating. My favorite foods when it's cold out is like mac and cheese (made with Heniz tomato soup, grated cheese and ground beef), canned Campbell's chicken noodle soup, and umm.....yeah. That's all I can think of right now.  But really, if anyone else is cooking it and it's hot, gimme gimme....please. lol

GrammyB ....we think alike. I cannot cook worth a blip but I can make great homemade bread, always have enjoyed doing that. Used to bake it for others and would knead it and pray over the recipient to be and call it blessing bread.

Love tea and am in NC and after a bath and unloading stuff, picked some mint from my garden to make it fresh.

We are also a mixture of nationalities. I am proud to be a mutt....loads of love and acceptance from all. :)

Mom's side of the family was more the down home sothern type with foods like biscuets & gravy, fresh peas, or fried catfish, or a big skillet of deer steak.

Dad's side had some family down arround Monro, and so I picked up a taste for the finer things of cajun cooking, like jumbolia and large quantities of cayenne peper.

Growing up, I was the youngest of 3 and when I'd get in the way too much helping dad outside, I'd just head back inside and help mom in the kitchen. So I've been cooking and experimenting in the kitchen since before I can remember. These days, I don't have as much time to cook as I'd like, but I still experiment with all sorts of recipies when I get the chance. When I went off to college, I got exposed to lots of different cuisines, so, now, whether it's Mexican, Chinese, Indonession, Jewish, French, or any other cuisine, I can usually find some things that sounds and tastes good.

Still, Milkshakes, cashews, Reses, and nacho Doritos are the foods I tend to turn to when I feel down or bored. A pot of spicy cajun ramen made with chicken broth and loaded with cayenne, cajun spice, Velveta and hot smoked saussages is my cure for the common cold, or just a chilly morning. I think the two things I could not live without are hot pepper and Velveta; anything else usualy ends up being just another way to use one or both at my house. Oh, and at my house if you can't find a cat hair or three on the plate, you undoubtably allready ate them. ~__=^.,.^=

Ahhh, favorite foods--from my family, only my paternal grandmother had tried and true family recipes, meat potato pie, English toffee, eggplant parm, homemade mac-n-cheese, apple pie, jewel pie, maids of honor, cottage cheese salad, carrots and turnips, sage stuffing.  Ummm, I am sure there are more I just am not remembering them.  now that my gram is gone I have made all of those recipes ones that I serve to my family.  Many are only for Thanksgiving and Christmas--the times Grammy made those special holiday foods.  Others are part of our regular meal rotation.  Some are now becoming holiday favorites of my husband's family as each year I am elected to bring homemade mac-n-cheese to certain holiday gatherings.  It blesses me to share things that have such and emotional tie to me.

Great post, Cheryl!  And I love your graphics.  It's pretty cool here in FL tonight, too, (for us), but I'm pretty much eating the same stuff I've been eating for the past few weeks--salads, soup, fruit, and popscicles as a "special" treat.  I'm on a diet, so all this talk and pictures of great food is KILLING ME! LOL  I gotta get outta here before I fall off the wagon--BIG time!  Mmmmm... ice cream does sound good, even if it is cold. LOL
Hugs,
