| Yay! The Rapture is Today! |
|
| |
Lo and behold, Christians all over America and elsewhere are going nuts because today is 7-7-07, or "777" in the estimation of some. And they're going to great lengths to describe what God is going to do today -- everything from revival and a fresh outpouring of the Spirit (which is absolutely possible) to the Rapture or the beginning of the Great Tribulation. And here stupid me thought the Bible said that "no man knows the day or the hour" regarding the Rapture....silly me! First off, if you're looking at today as simply a good day to unite with your fellow believers in prayer, thanksgiving, evangelism, discipleship and seeking God to pour out His Spirit afresh today, then by all means, more power to you! My prayer is that He would grant all those requests. But if you've gotten caught up in the whole "777" thing, I'm sorry to inform you that God doesn't run on the Julian calendar, much less hastily-contrived derivations thereof. If God was going to base His operations on a calendar -- which Jesus has already told us us not the case for the Rapture anyways, but just for sake of argument -- it's much more likely that He would use the Jewish calendar (today is the 21st of Tammuz, 5767, just in case you were wondering). Second, why set dates? I mean seriously. If you think you're being used of God to relay His truth (i.e. the Bible) to others -- which is the heart and soul of what the prophetic gift is all about, by the way -- why jeopardize your credibility by setting a date for things that the Bible is clear that it's impossible to set dates for? If we were in OT Israel and you made a prophetic statement like that and were wrong, common law was that you were to be stoned to death for being a false prophet. Now you won't get stoned to death nowadays, but the branding of "false prophet" still remains just as painful as it was then. Now listen, if today is the day that the Lord has appointed for us to meet Him in the air, then hallelujah, I'm ready to go! Yes, it's painful to think of those in my family and friends who would not be joining me, and that pushes me forward to make sure I'm giving them the gospel and the opportunity to respond genuinely to it. But as far as I personally go, I'm ready whenever He is. Until then though, I want to be found busy doing the good work He has appointed for me each day to do, not be distracted and tossed aside by perhaps well-meaning but erring folks who want to say "today's the day!" only to put a testimony out there to a lost and dying world of "see, we really have no idea what we're talking about". We owe the world better than that. They should see our love -- for God first, for others second -- and want to know what we're about, rather than hear our cries about "we're being raptured today!" and see our flashy and well-financed advertisements proclaiming "Get in the boat today, or you will regret it tomorrow!" and when the sun rises tomorrow with us all still here (if the Lord wills) look at us and say "you wonder why I don't hook up with a bunch of whackjobs like you? Look at yourselves again and figure it out!" Hope this clarifies some things for some people. :) In His service, and yours, jason† |

| ...and I thought today was just another lazy Saturday...look what I missed. The sun will still set tonight and rise tomorrow on the just and the unjust alike...and God will still reign. For that I am truly grateful. |

Well, in all fairness He could come today if He so chose -- and it would be glorious! -- but I'm not gonna go sit on the hilltop and wait for it...He said He wanted us to be busy doing His business until He returned, so that's what we should be doing! And yes, the King is on His throne, reigning as always. :) |

lol seriously! I guess all the hoopla was merely chasing imaginary shadows instead of Rock-solid desires already stated to us in Scripture....it doesn't have anything to do with this, but the "over-zealous" mindset that lends itself to such nuttiness reminds me of the title of a book by pastor Chuck Smith, "Charisma vs. Charismania". Sometimes even the best of us can let ourselves get carried away, I guess... :) |

lol I forgot to mention...I had someone yesterday tell me they believed the Lord wanted to come back tomorrow, but since people like me "lacked faith", He was prevented! Talk about postulating a theory that cannot be disproven! "I believe I'm going to inherit a million dollars today, but if I don't, it's because you don't believe I will, so can you just believe it already so I can get my million?" First off, I believe completely that there is nothing (in a prophetic sense) that needs to happen before the Lord's return...He truly could come today if that was His perfect timing, and I'd be rejoicing in His meeting us in the air and taking us to our wedding feast in heaven with Him! Second, the only thing that could "prevent" Him from coming is His own longsuffering and hyperloving heart, not wanting any to perish but desiring that all would come to repentance...i.e. He's waiting for more people to come to Him in faith before He comes and sets the final strand of dominoes in motion. He alone is the only one who can delay His coming, not me. My faith or lack thereof has no bearing on whether He comes, though it can make a difference of whether I go with Him or not. :) |

I have been so caught up in grief I haven't been able to respond.
My wife and children disappeared in the rapture two days ago...
I guess my faith was not strong enough! Now I am all alone. But I know they are happy in Heaven watching over me.
Obviously I am kidding, but how crazy would the day be to wake up and the world's Chirstian's have all been taken away to find yourself looking around for them, and then it hits you.... Holy cow, I have been left behind... Interesting Movie series, not sure how scriptural it is but it was entertainment.
I always think it is funny how folks forget about the differences in the calendars as well.
Cheers and God Bless |
