Evidence of God existence brings one to faith? Highly unlikely!
I often hear people say, “If I could only hear God speak directly to me…then I would believe in Him.”
I am sure you too have probably heard similar expressions from folks in your circle of friends and family. When talking about God, many of our secular world just don’t want to hear it and offers up all kinds of excuses to avoid facing the inevitable; the confrontation with the living God, Judgment Day.
The Day of the Lord is indeed coming, but today, today we have the duty to try to prepare the lost for His coming. Now, I was thinking…what if God would manifest himself to the lost, would they believe, then? Would they come to faith and follow Him?
At first thought, it seemed probable. But then the reality set in and that reality is that most unbelievers would still remain unbelievers. There is evidence of God’s existence all around us for every one to see. Yet, many unbelievers just cannot see and don’t want to see; and those unbelievers who do see, would not follow or come to God.
Like Cain, in Genesis 4, who knew of God existence and even had conversations with God; yet, Cain would not turn to God to follow Him but rather he ran off to do his own thing in life. Cain remained an unbeliever in spite of all the evidence of reality of God; in spite of all of the opportunities to turn to God for the forgiveness of his sins, Cain died an unbeliever.
So I too, must face this reality that many unbelievers around me will probably remain unbelievers till the end. In spite of all the evidence clearly seen, they would choose darkness rather than to choose light and live. It is sad; but it is true!

| Yes, good point JR! It is sad but true, people choose not to "believe in" or trust God, b/c that they simply don't want to. They would rather be their own God! Cain is a great example. Also, the Israelites in the wilderness were visibly led by God in the pillar of cloud/fire, and even saw him shake Mt Sinai, but they still disobeyed, even replacing God with a god of their own making (gold calf) the first chance they got! Good to hear from you again, bud! |

Yah Mike, It struck me hard when I was sharing the gospel of Christ with some JWs the other day. And one said strongly, "I can't believe in a God that would punish someone forever because of sin. Where is his love and his kindness in that, huh? Don't talk to me about this anymore!!!"
It sad but that person fails to see that God is holy and perfect in every thing that He does, even in His judgment for sin. And yet, he fails to see God's love in His warnings and in His Salvation in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Thanks Mike for your comments. JR |
