Risk. What is risk? And why do we risk? In realty we risk things everyday. From driving in the car we risk the other driver may crash into us. We may risk at work, or in sports. But what is risk in a friendship? What is risk in love? Why do we take those risks? Fear. Fear keeps us from risk. Fear of the unknown, fear of rejection, fear of being alone… To risk means your putting something on the line were the odds might stand against you. What does it mean to risk in love? To give of oneself at the expense of the loss of part of oneself. Some do not risk much, playing it safe. For fear of giving up or losing a part of themselves, there very hearts. But to those who risk little get little in return. The greater the risk, the more you may lose, but the greater the gain should you succeed. To risk in love is the greatest risk of all. The risk of being hurt, rejected, let down, scarred… But should you risk everything for love, in friendship or farther, you indeed take the greatest chance being rejected, hurt, and yes scarred. But if you risk everything and lose, have you truly lost? Or have you gained wisdom? Is my reaction to turn inward, allowing my pain to become bitterness? If it was Christ through me, then he is still filling me to pour out on others. Have I stilled myself enough to listen and learn, gaining wisdom in allowing God to teach me through it? Have I looked to the deeper, hidden things that God is working behind the scenes in His time? Or will the hurt of an apparent loss keep me from risking again? NO…I will always be a risk taker, God is God of all, my strong tower, my shield, If I lose my life for Him, I gain it. Trust in Him, obey His voice, and there is no risk to great for my God...
