Great blog Bren! Hi everyone! As Paul told us, we are the physical members of the Lord's body on earth. He has been given to us as head over all things. We are seated with Him in heavenly places. We have been translated from the domain of darkness into the Kingdom of God's dear Son. If the enemy is doing something then it is because he has been given permission (remember Jesus telling Peter that Satan had demanded that Peter be shifted like wheat). Our response is to first and foremost, to submit to God...then and only then do we resist the Devil. The Devil's response will then be to flee. We "independently" have not been given power or authority, we have been given the Son of God; in him we have redemption and the forgiveness of sins; he is made to us the wisdom of God and the righteousness of God. That is why we must see ourselves as we truly are: as being in Christ; for if we see ourselves as being in the flesh then we are not abiding in him and we are limited to the resources of the flesh...the Devil will eat our lunch and pop the bag. I had a dream in which I was seated at a table with a bunch of demons. In the dream I knew that they were there to curse me and do me harm. But when they went to speak they could say nothing except the blessing of God upon me. In the dream the Lord reminded me that he had prepared a table for me in the presence of my enemies and therefore they could do nothing to curse me. To fail to see what God has done in Christ about the Devil, to see what God has done in Christ about our old man (who we were born as the first time), and to see what God has done in Christ in making us a new creation in his Son (who we are born as the second time), is to give place to the enemy. It is our responsibility to submit to God and to then resist the Devil. It is all about identity, all about the renewal of our mind, all about being transformed into the image we see in the mirror. If we don't see what God does then we will not be transformed into that image but into a false one that is based upon deception. Best regards, Craig |
