I have been out of town for a few days. When I returned there was a letter waiting for me from my bank. It was concerning my car loan. No I wasn't overdue. :) Because I was such a good customer they wanted to do me a favor? The letter stated I could skip one month's car payment this summer. Alright! But then I read the fine print, you know the part they don't want you to read. For the privilege of skipping one month's car payment, I would continue to pay interest for that month and here is the clincher, I would pay them a $50.00 handling fee. Credit has so become a way of life in America that we don't see the perverseness of paying $50.00 to use one car payment for one month? I hope Christians can see through this terrible waste of God's resources. 22:7 The man of wealth has rule over the poor, and he who gets into debt is a servant to his creditor. Want to hear something ironic? Even as I type this there is an ad on MyChurch for, you guessed it, a credit card with Captital One. It's everywhere! |
