6:14 Stand therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 6:15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 6:16 withal taking up the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil `one'. 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 6:18 with all prayer and supplication praying at all seasons in the Spirit, and watching thereunto in all perseverance and supplication for all the saints, Without your armor on you will not be protected and able to stand firm. It is our responsibility to put our armor on. Not that we should labor in our own strength or with our own understanding. If we go left when our King says right you are listening to a lie, not wearing (the belt of truth) and will probably end up in enemy territory. Then you better have your (sword of the spirit)…the word of God “Trust in the LORD with all your heart (breastplate of righteousness) and lean not on your own understanding (helmet of salvation); in all your ways acknowledge him (shield of faith), and he will make your paths straight (feet shod with the preparation of peace).” Proverbs 3:4-6
The Armor of God
The belt of truth Are you wearing your belt of truth? If not your waist in unprotected. You will have problems with the desires of the flesh...lust, gluttony, greed, etc. How do we put on the belt of truth? By repentance for our disobedience. Surrender believing Satan's lies. "Those who oppose him [a noble man] he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to the knowledge of the truth (2 Tim 2:25). Truth keeps our motives pure. Breastplate of righteousness Are you wearing your breastplate of righteousness? Without it your heart will be unprotected. You will be broken hearted, angry, bitter, judgmental, and lack compassion. You put the breastplate of righteousness on by having a pure heart that trusts in the Lord and walks in integrity. Surrender not acting in a just and upright manner. "Righteousness guards the man of integrity, but wickedness overthrows the sinner "(Proverbs 13:6). Righteousness allows us to stand before God, men and demons. Feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace Are your feet fitted with the gospel of peace? If not your feet are unprotected. You will be stressed and sick. You fit your feet with peace by walking in forgiveness. Surrender conflict with others and self...un-forgiveness. Stop talking control of granting pardon. "There is deceit in the hearts of those who plot evil, but joy for those who promote peace" (proverbs 12:20). Peace gives us joy and strength. Without it your feet will not be ready to stomp on snakes [demons] and scorpions [sickness] and overcome the power of the enemy [Luke 10:18] Shield of faith Do you have a shield of faith? When the shield is down the other weapons are exposed. Without it you are not protected from the attack of the enemy. You will lack hope and not be able to please God. Acquire the shield of faith by acknowledging the Lord in all your ways and believe in His word. Surrender your doubt and unbelief. Take control your thought life. "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not yet seen" (Hebrews 11:1) “Without faith, it is impossible to please God, for he who comes to God must believe that He is God, and a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6). Helmet of salvation Are you wearing your helmet of salvation? Without it your head is unprotected. You will be confused, deceived, and depressed. You wear the helmet of salvation by not leaning on your own understanding. Surrender your sin. Take responsibility for your actions. "I am in pain and distress; may your salvation, O God, protect me." (Psalms 69:29) Through Jesus we will receive "salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us" (Luke 1:71) "Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death" Sword of the Spirit Do you have the sword of the Spirit? Without it you will not have power to defeat the enemy. You will be defeated and powerless. Acquire the sword of the Spirit by being grounded in the word and filled with the Spirit. Surrender laboring in your own strength. Submit to God. "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: 'Not by [man's] might nor by [man's] power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD Almighty you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you" (Acts 1:8)

| Lately I have laid my armor aside. Who would of thought that one little hurt could grow out of control to make you lay your armor down? It can happen. |

| Hi Bren. First of all, good words. The key words in everything is "putting it on", futhermore we have to keep it on. Crystal. I know that feeling well. In short, fed up with fighting. In short again. When you lay it down because of being fed up with fighting all the time, whether it be you, me or anyone else - we lay ourselves wide open to attack. The Amor of God is not put on for a fashion statement, its there for a protection statement - because it will take all that amor to protect us - when everything around us is going belly up. |

| Crystal – thank you for sharing. Yes, I know it can happen. Even when we know our armor is missing, for me anyway, it hasn’t been real clear on how to put it on and keep it. I have been studying for a long time trying to put this together in a way that made sense to me. |

Hi Bren~ I know The Holy Spirit has given me the comment I hoped for regarding what You have shared here. Hebrews 4:9-12 9There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. 10For he that is entered into His rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from His. 11Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. 12For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Bren, because of taking on the Full Armor, and this is of Faith, then we are able to Rest in Christ Jesus, knowing we are Fully Equiped. Very Important: ROMANS 13:12...GOD IS LIGHT...PUTTING ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, BEING IN CHRIST JESUS, MEANS TO PUT ON A SUPREMELY VITAL PIECE OF ARMOR WHICH IS THE ' ARMOR OF LIGHT'. Thank You Bren, You certainly did generate an abundance of thought/meditation by this article.......In Christ, Ken ORR |

Ken – Thank you for you thought provoking comment. Yes, Jesus is the armor of Light.
“8Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law. 9The commandments, "Do not commit adultery," "Do not murder," "Do not steal," "Do not covet," and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: "Love your neighbor as yourself." 10Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
11And do this, understanding the present time. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. 12The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. 13Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. 14Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature.” Romans 13:8-14
