| We'll rest in the Lord |

11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
It's hard to rest in God when life keeps us scrambling from one demand or crisis to the next. These moments what we need is a sanctuary, a place to meet with God everyday. Sometimes we try to make ourselves believe that we are doing God's will. We belong to groups that keeps us so busy that there is little time left for Him, our families or people outside of the group, and it often just brings us sorrow. We need to look at our lives and ask, is this my way or is this God's way? If we would only take time to ask Him what He wants of us, and listen. We are like Martha when we should be like Mary, listening to Jesus. He's speaking! Are we listening?
Let's pray:
Deep within our being where truth and peace yearn to reign over chaos and confusion ... We seek you. Amidst the daily activities that keeps us so busy ... We seek you. Among the people who come into our lives--our loved ones, our friends, our companions, even our enemies ... We seek you. When we feel empty, distraught, frustrated, and lost; when we wonder in what direction we are to go ... We seek you. When fear rises up in us and we do not believe in our ability to express your love ... Help us to trust in you. When we doubt your presence in the difficult aspects of our days ... Help us to trust in you. When we question the way you move in our lives ... Help us to trust in you. When emptiness, loneliness, sorrow and other struggles cause us to forget your love for us ... Help us to trust in you. (Adapted from J. Rupp, by J. Bunch)
God bless and never forget He's looking into your heart. |
