| God's Amazing Creation |

An unusually springlike day in early February. The small patch of woods behind the house is bustling with its usual activity. Squirrels scampering everywhere, rustling the carpet of dead leaves that covers the ground, and jumping from limb to limb among the almost barren trees. The few dead leaves still hanging in the trees cast dark shadows across the woods.
Then seemingly from nowhere, with wings magnificently spread, a majestic hawk soars into the woods. Settles on a limb for a couple of minutes, before showing off its awesome wingspan again to move to another branch, then soon returning to the first one. Sitting still and quiet, and blending into the foliage and shadows, unnoticeable to those who did not witness its entrance. An hour passes. Still no movement, other than an occasional turn of the head. The hawk is unaffected by sounds of nearby traffic, of barking dogs, and even of a couple of nearby gun shots. Completely still and focused.
But the woods have changed. The activity has disappeared. There is no rustling of leaves, apart from that brought by the soft gentle breeze. No playful squirrels to be seen. No birds singing or chattering. All of nature seems to know there is danger in its midst. A hungry predator awaiting its prey. Waiting patiently as its instincts have taught it, while the prey likewise follows its instincts to hide.
Time passes. Is the hawk still there, or am I now watching merely a shadow? Suddenly to the ground it lunges. No movement heard, no struggle apparent, but something has fallen prey. I lose sight of it, and wonder after several minutes if it has moved on, and I have missed it. It has not. As suddenly as it had lunged, it arises in all its majesty into the bright blue skies, pausing briefly as if in proud acknowledgement of my awe, and then soaring in a matter of seconds out of sight.

40:28a Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.
Note: It's not often I have the luxury of sitting in my porch rocking chair for over an hour to witness a scene like this, but yesterday it was one of the "blessings" of being too sick to do anything else. Even sickness brings its blessings, but thankfully I am feeling much better today. |

Psalm 8:9 O Lord, our Lord, the Majesty of Your Name fills the earth!
Kathy, this is so well written...LOVE IT!! LOL!! I have to admit that a marquee sign kept popping into my head...it said: If we don't pray, we become prey! I hadn't seen this sign in months...so maybe I needed that reminder...isn't it wonderful how God displays His Greatness and speaks to us? I pray you are feeling back to normal quickly! Be blessed Kathy! :) |

| Yes, those moments of quiet time and reflection can be the best. Sorry to hear that you were not feeling well; may the Lord place His healing hands upon you and restore you to health; blessings. |

If we would just lift our heads every now and then and look at the awesomeness and majesty of our Father, I think the majority of us could not deny Him.
Moments of solitude, when we tune into His greatness and witness His majesty is just mindblowing. I love to look at clouds and the sky in general (day or night), to sit in the springtime and listen to the birds, watch flowers as they sprout, squirrels as they scamper about. These things he gave freely to us and we do not take advantage of them often enough.
I pray that you are much better. I think the weather is wreaking havoc on a lot of us. Our bodies don't know what to do (stay in hibernation or come out and dance in the warm air)LOL... Healing to you little sister.... |

Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers! I am much better today and planning to return to work tomorrow.
LaTonya, I am reminded of another saying: "The early bird gets the worm, but what happens to the early worm?" :) I like yours better!
Thank you, Teral! I always love to see you!!
Thanks, Voice! I miss the subscriptions here. It's hard to keep a steady readership, and hard to be one for others, without lots of lots of time; and that change is discouraging my posts somewhat. Be assured, however, that I am always writing - even if only between God and me!
Mary, I have two rockers on the porch. Want to come over? :) |

This is beautiful...thanks for sharing. I miss my woods. There is something special about the strength and beauty of those majestic towers that leaves me with a sense of awe and wonder at the magnificence of all of God's creation. Glad you are feeling better. |

Sorry that you were sick, and glad you are feeling better. My wife and I have had a congestion cold for about two months and I had a heart attack on February 16th. A testimony about the just mentioned is my recent blog. I love our livingroom where my office is too because there are about 20 trees I can see through the 5 double windows. And there are bird visitors too sometimes. I love scenery photos and have many in our livingroom. How can there be any atheists. The second half of Romans 1 has serious warnings to those who the God the Creator and Genesis 1-2 is completely true no mattter what Evolutionists claim. |

| I'm a latecomer, but nevertheless enjoyed this blog. A gentle and peaceful sit on a porch, observing God's creation at work/play, sounds delicious. |
