Like many of you, I read Mike's blog about how to spend some quiet time with God. So, this morning, I put his advise to use and now I'm doin the "T" step in the PREAPT acronym!
First, I have to preface this by saying that I have a defiant teenage son who is constantly in trouble and it takes a great deal out of me dealing with him. I am constantly praying for him and I usually sort of wink at God and say "Lord, why put off till tomorrow what you can do today?". I know He has a plan, but I would love for Him to help out with my son NOW instead of later.
So, this morning I'm following the "P" step and asking God to speak to me through His Word. I open my Bible and start reading a few passages here and there and flipping around. Then, you know what happens, I come to a passage that suddenly comes alive. When I read it, it immediately brings tears to my eyes because I KNOW that God himself has just spoken directly to me at that very moment. It was as if that verse had been written down ages ago just so that I could find and read it today!
Here it is:
Jeremiah 29:11 (Amplified Bible)
For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.
Isn't God good to leave us little notes like this so we can find them when we need them!
Wow, sounds like you had a loaded time with God that morning! I can totally identify with that story!! I'm pretty elated that God blessed you with that. And it blesses me too to hear about it too. (And I'm sure it also blesses many more folks too who may be too shy to say to!) ~mike
Hey Kristie I've had this happen at times also. God speaks just what we need to hear at just the right time. Its so awesome! ALSO, Thanks for doing our class Sunday. You did such a good job. I have no idea how to get this bold turned off. I've tried everything I can think of. Sorry!
