2:9 But ye are a elect race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for `God's' own possession, that ye may show forth the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
2:10 who in time past were no people, but now are the people of God: who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
2:11 Beloved, I beseech you as sojourners and pilgrims, to abstain from fleshly lust, which war against the soul;
2:12 having your behavior seemly among the Gentiles; that, wherein they speak against you as evil-doers, they may by your good works, which they behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.
2:13 Be subject to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether to the king, as supreme;
2:14 or unto governors, as sent by him for vengeance on evil-doers and for praise to them that do well.
2:15 For so is the will of God, that by well-doing ye should put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
2:16 as free, and not using your freedom for a cloak of wickedness, but as bondservants of God.
2:17 Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.
In this lesson I read about a gentleman by the name of Harry, who always came to work whistling a tune/song. One day he came in and was not whistling anything and as he went around the office he notice that everybody else seamed to be on edge. He finally asked one of his co-workers what was wrong. She said that they all thought he was upset or something was wrong. Just because he did not come in whistling on this day. That is when Harry realized that how closely he had been watched.
Think about that as you go through your day. Who is watching you? What do they see as they watch you? Do they see anger, hate, bad attitude, all of which is Satan at work in your life, or do they see you living an honorable life? Do they see a person submissive to authority? Do they see someone who is doing good works, someone honoring all people, and someone who is a window for Gods' beautiful light to shine through?
I have learned, now that I am saved, that our actions or reactions to something is the only God some people will see. What we say to members of our family, our friends, our co-workers, or just a stranger we pass on the street is or can be our only testimony to those people. I have also learned that talking about God and doing God's will can be two completely different things.
the next time you are mean, discriminate, or talking to your friends about somebody or something may be your only time to witness to someone. When we are in a good mood it is so much easier to be nice and let God shine through, but when we are in a bad mood who do we let stand in our window for the world to see? I pray that God will use me all the time for the glorification of His kingdom, no matter what has happened to me.
