| Creepy Crawlies and Keeping Cool |
|
| |
My cats are so much fun, and I know that I am very blessed to have them in my life. My cat Spooky is just under a year old, and he has brought a breath of fresh air into our home, although I don't know if the other cats would share in that opinion!
Last night, on my nightly trip to the bathroom, Spooky brought something into the bathroom and dropped it at my feet. It was dark, so I couldn't tell what it was. I squinted my eyes and turned on the light. He had brought a centipede that he had found somewhere...who knows where. I know he thought it was pretty cool, but I didn't...I DO NOT like centipedes, and it goes back to my childhood and that is all I am going to say about it! Anyway, since I don't like centipedes, I quickly got a piece of toilet paper and grabbed it and threw it in the toilet and flushed! Spooky was not happy with me! He proceeded to search under all the rugs in the bathroom, and any other thing that he could "look" under to find his "prize". I don't know how long he kept looking for it after I went back to bed. I guess I hurt his feelings?
It has been very hot around here the last few days, and all of my cats have unusual ways to keep cool. My cat Hershey (the senior cat) lays by my toilet with his paws touching the porcelain (yes, my cats do seem to have a preoccupation with my bathroom). I guess he is keeping his paws cool? Then Munchie lays in the bathroom (of course) sink. Spooky likes to lay in the bathtub and be as close to the water bowls as possible, making sure he keeps up his hydration. Go here for a picture of him... http://www.mychurch.org/debnjim/photos?action=view&id=67755
This all makes me think of how God looks down upon us and His creatures. Does he take pleasure in the animals of the world like I do? Does He laugh at the actions of my cats in the middle of the night when they bring me a prize? I would imagine that he gets as much pleasure out of them as I do. I am glad I have a Heavenly Father who knows the gifts I will love best, and what will make me laugh, and that He is there with me at all hours of the day to laugh with me, and to cry with me. What an awesome God we have! |

My Leo lays on his back on my bed with all four legs spread apart. He places himself right under the ceiling fan. |

The other day Sadie (5lb toy poodle) who has a ball fetish dropped her ball into the pool. This is an annoying habit of hers (who wants slimy dog slobber in their pool?). This time however the solar cover was on the pool and the ball rolled out to the middle of the pool. So Sadie walked right out after it!!! The solar cover supported her, so in a way I guess you could say:
MY DOG WALKED ON WATER!!!!!
Wish I had a picture! I bet Jesus got a chuckle out of that one. Question: Who walked on water? Answer: Jesus, Peter, & Sadie!! |

I love kitties too! I have a black cat named Stormy. I found her abandoned in a flowerbed a few years ago during a storm, hence her name. She was only a few days old and I bottle fed her.
She is spoiled rotten! More by my husband than by me--she has her own 'people food' that he buys her and she sleeps between our pillows at night. In return for his constant affection, she stalks him and pounces on him where ever he goes--I think she thinks he's her personal cat toy. |

Cathy, I have a cat that likes to sit under the ceiling fan too. They are smart creatures, but the coolest place in the house (the basement) is not where they want to be. There isn't any action down there! I do have air conditioning, but I only use it when it gets really, really hot, because I love hot weather.
Carebear, my husband says no more cats...I already have 8! I think maybe I have pushed his limits, don' you? lol
Steve, what a cute story! I notice you didn't share a story about Storm :) (Storm is his CAT, who he doesn't like.)
Birdie, Stormy sounds adorable. My Spooky is black, and ornery. It is great that you took Stormy in and took care of her. She is no doubt grateful to you. |

DC, I can't help it if you are anti-cat! You and my pastor would get along great!
Mike, thanks for thinking of all those stars, even though you could only give one...it's the thought that counts! :)
Racunpoodle, thanks for your thoughts. I think we can learn a lot from our animals! |
