Angela, and everyone:

I believe that Psalm finds its fulfillment in the New Covenant.

Ezekiel 36:22-27 ( ESV )
“Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord God: It is not for your sake, O house of Israel, that I am about to act, but for the sake of my holy name, which you have profaned among the nations to which you came. And I will vindicate the holiness of my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, and which you have profaned among them. And the nations will know that I am the Lord, declares the Lord God, when through you I vindicate my holiness before their eyes. I will take you from the nations and gather you from all the countries and bring you into your own land. I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.  And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.

Now, if I don't understand that I am walking in a new covenant where God has said that He has given me a new heart then I will spend my life trying to get Him to do something that He's told me that He has already done. We really are a new creation in Christ...however, we won't see that if we focus on the flesh and we will be deceived into thinking that God still has to do something in us. We then end up living our life in terms of how the flesh defines us rather than in terms of how God defines us, in Christ.  We I do understand that He has given me a new heart in Christ then that changes how I pray: thanksgiving!  :-)

We also have to remember the scriptures in Hebrews that speak to being cleansed of "an evil conscience!"  An evil conscience is one that fails to bow before the word.  So even our conscience isn't an absolute guide--we are told to let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts, not our conscience.

Thanks for the blog Angela!  That's just want comes to me when I think about Psalms 51. I've learned that I have to "and" all the verses together and especially pay attention to what God said He's done in the New Covenant.

Your brother in Him,
Craig

Thanks for sharing the inspiration. He reveals the New Covenant to individuals. Ps 25. No one does that but God alone.

Thank you Craig :0)

I love that verse and had to write on it (it was the "daily verse" for yesterday) I completely understand what you are saying... and yes I do not want God to RE-DO what he done for me already.  He did give me a clean heart, He did renew aright spirit within me!  My God does not even cast me away from His presence when I seek Him :0)

God did reveal to me something though and I feel compelled to share it.

I was talking last night with my fiance Aaron.  I had looked over and on his table in his living room he has a piece of pottery that I made years ago and gave him as a gift(do not think that this is awesome by the way: I do because I created it, formed it, bonded with it and gave it color and substance...).  I was laughing and telling him how hard I tried to make that piece my best one (and up until that time it was!)  I learned from it and was proud of it and will as an artist always feel a connection with it :0) The Holy Spirit then told me that "that was how God feels with our hearts" God created them, he formed them he designed, refined and connected with each one and put a bond that only an artist/Creator can do.

Maybe we all need to just wash or dust off our awesome works of art from time to time so everyone can see what our Master Creator has done?
