Oh, how faithful He is.  Praise the Lord for all He has done.  God bless you.

In context this scripture is a reference to immorality and idolatry.  It is speaking to the fact that there is no temptation to sin where God will allow us to be put to the test beyond what we are able.  At the same time Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 1 that there are trials that God will allow that are beyond our ability to handle, so that we will trust in God rather than ourselves.

It always fascinates me that many of my brothers and sisters don't seem to have much to add from their own experiences with a given verse...and especially one like this one.  Are all you guys saying that you have never given in to a temptation to sin?  Is there anyone else besides me that struggled with this verse for a while because it looked like God didn't take the temptation away or because it didn't look like there was a way of escape provided?

Guess I just must be the only one who had to learn the hard way to acknowledge before our Father that He had always provided a way of escape!  All failures in yielding to a temptation to sin were my total responsibility and I am absolutely without any excuse.  God will always be faithful to provide a way of escape in any and every temptation to sin in the future also.  I personally have no excuse not to trust that He will indeed, provide a way of escape!  And, indeed, I actually expect that way to be provided and I expect that I will not fall apart like a $2 suitcase.

It took a great deal of pain and failure for God to get me to the place where I could say that...so I'm wondering how it is that no one else seems to have these same type of adventures.  :-)  [Well, I'm not really wondering...I figure that I know...and it grieves me.]

Sincerely,
Craig

Craig:

Each one of us (speaking for myself) had a hard road to travel before we really got to that point of totally trusting God.  Maybe the trials and tribulations were not voiced here because it was not asked to be done, however I really appreciate your testimony as to the struggles you have had and pray that your grievance for others is not an assumption that you actually think no one else has been down that road.

We all have fallen short and yet every day, I believe we each struggle to get back on top and stay there.  We struggle each day with some sort of temptation yet we know that when we fall our Father will be right there to help us back up and not judge us. He will always be faithful and have proven that over and over again...

Much Love

mstovall2003,

Just to make things clearer; it isn't that I believe others haven't been down this road; it is that they have not come to the place where they feel safe enough in the Lord to be transparent and share where they are really at.  When folks share their struggles then the Lord can use others who have been given grace in those same areas; we comfort with the same comfort that we have been comforted with!  To hide in the darkness because we believe that we will be rejected is grievous.  To come into the light is painful but also redemptive...and I'm sure you know that my sister. :-)

Thanks so much! Yours in Him, Love Craig

Transparency is hard in a medium such as this.  I don't think people are afraid of what the Father would think ( he already knows), but I think they are afraid of the criticism that some circumstances may generate here (such a shame).

When we share with others our Father allows us to hear him a lot of times through them and I really appreciate that experience...  I appreciate you too!
