I hear so many messages today about tithing and then a salvation message with it. Jude told us to contend for the faith that was once and for all delivered to the saints. 1:3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort [you] that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. First there comes a message about salvation and then that message is coupled with a tithing message. It is as if one has to pay tithes to be saved. If salvation comes by faith and grace then tithing should also be by faith and grace. Here is something that the tithing proponets do not seem to understand, why I do not know is God is a 100% God and he wants all of us. It takes faith to be saved and it also takes faith to give unto the Lord's work. Here is why many if not all church fellowships preach tithing messages. This one is going to suprise you. You see they figure this 10% thing and instead of trusting Jesus Christ to meet the needs of the local fellowship they figure out about what 10% should be given by the congregation of that fellowship. This shows a lack of faith in Christ. Why not trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. Tithing has almost always leads to severe legalism which is nothing but death in the long run. Some of them say well Abraham gave a tenth. Yes he sure did, but he only did it once and he did not work for what he gave. I mean come on folks let us get real here. Tithing is not for the New Testament (New Covenant) church except when it is only given by faith, and not of necessity. I have heard everything from that your an idolater to being covetous if you do not pay your 10 percent. What ever happened to grace. Now there may be some that use an exuse not to give and that is a different thing. That is not what I am trying to communicate here. Let me give you some word. 9:6 But this [I say], He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, [so let him give]; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. 9:8 And God [is] able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all [things], may abound to every good work: 16:2 Upon the first [day] of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as [God] hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. Tithing Truth 1 Tithing Truth 2 Let us look at what the prophet Micah had to say here: 3:5 Thus saith the LORD concerning the prophets that make my people err, that bite with their teeth, and cry, Peace; and he that putteth not into their mouths, they even prepare war against him. Wow if you do not pay your tithes then these false prophets declare a holy war against those who do not pay up. People you are not redeemed with corruptable things like silver and gold but with the precious blood of Christ. Yet some count the blood of the covenant whereby they were sanctified an unworthy thing by going back under a old levitical law that was for the Levitical priesthood only. Salvation is only through the blood of Jesus Christ---What do you think it meant when Jesus said "It is finished" on the cross of calvary. I am for giving becasue the Lord instructs us to give in the New Testament but I am against this tithing thing. It is nothing but going back under the old covenant law.
1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, [as] silver and gold, from your vain conversation [received] by tradition from your fathers; 1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Here is more information about the carnality of much of today's New Testament church.
