4:14Whereas ye know not what [shall be] on the morrow. For what [is] your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
Vapours, our lives are only vapours. It's a scary thought, but very true. It's something we try to
not think about but cannot escape. The bible calls death the enemy. I realized how much of an
enemy last Tuesday when I attended the funeral of Ronald Carey. I saw how death had snatched
a man in his mid 50's from the earth. I saw how it had stolen a husband away from Diane, his
wife. And how Rhonda 'in college' with Sarah her sister which is in high school, was left without
a daddy.Yes death is a formidable enemy.
As we all focus so hard on being afraid of death, we have a enemy we should be more afraid of,
~LIFE~
I know, you say "pastor you're crazy". Maybe so, but let's look at it for a moment.
How do we truly live our lives? We stay so busy and stressed we can't be HAPPY. We live so
self-centered that we don't have PEACE, at our jobs, with our friends, in our marriages and
families. We have no JOY because we forget to hug our kids and husbands or wives,to tell people
we love them, and how truly blessed we are.
So look at what life steals. HAPPINESS, PEACE, JOY. Wow isn't that most of the gifts of the
Holy Spirit? Ephesians 4:28 says "let him that stole steal no more". We need to purpose in our heart that we are going to HAVE life and not let life HAVE us.
You see if you are born again death is a conquered enemy; 1 Cor.15:26,54,55
Yes, life is the real enemy but it doesn't have to be. Jesus said He came to give us abundant
life; John 10:10. So trust in Jesus and follow His commandments. then you too will have
abundant life.
In His Service,
Pastor Clint
