Jonathan and I have been trading emails and phone calls back and forth for a month now. He runs iBakeSale - an interesting org that helps other orgs raise money through the purchases of their members. (ex. I shop at a certain store, and the store gives a % of the sale back to the organization I'm a part of)

It's a great idea and one that the ChurchMarketingSucks guys would probably like.

At one of our local supermarkets in San Jose, there is a stack of clear boxes at the exit door corresponding to different churches in the area. Shoppers put their receipts into a church box, and that church gets a "cut" of the sale. I'm sure some take issue with this, but I think it's brilliant: 1) the local market (which is not a chain) subtly shows that the owners are Christian, 2) the local churches benefit financially, and 3) the consumer helps out his church through a purchase he was going to make anyway.

Anyway, iBakeSale is operating on a similar idea. They have an impressive list of merchants and I am eager to see their ad campaign on MyChurch yielding interest. Feel free to join the MyChurch group they set up, ask Jonathan some questions, and let me know what your experience is with them :)
