Last night I received a phone call from a family member of mine stating she was getting married.
I was ecstatic!!
This is not of me, but only to share as a blessing to you I hope, she was in an abusive marriage in a different state. After almost two years of talking, patience, and the truth being set in her heart and mind from the Holy Spirit, she saw she could be delivered from this marriage; he had broken the marriage vows and was abusive...neither God's plan, and as I requested, for her to seek God in seeing what God wanted for her now that her husband had made the choices he did. She had requested they go to counseling, had prayed, and really sought God in what to do as we intimately walked through this together.
In our talking, she reminded me of the story about Jabez in 1 Chronicles 4:9-10.
4:9 And Jabez was more honorable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow. 4:10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my border, and that thy hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it be not to my sorrow! And God granted him that which he requested.
We discussed these verses as the Holy Spirit lead both of us in a Bible study together on the telephone. God had answered her prayer through those verses by increasing her territory in:
*a spouse, *safety, *now a beautiful home vs. her own apartment, *the blessing of not working now, not in an unhealthy attempt to "depend on your spouse" and possibly be brought into an economic bondage if the relationship turned abusive and she needed to leave and have an employment history; but in a wonderful agreement between her and her new spouse which is a trustworthy descision due to him being the gift God gave her! *in a new blended-family with more grandchildren!! *in peace *in love
When you walk in the faith-walk of being in your word {Bible}, seeking God with a pure, clean heart...God is right there and will increase your territory in what direction He wants and it is exactly your heart's desire when your heart's desire lines up with God's heart.
Father, increase my territory in this area of my life when it is your season for me. Increase my territory in my finances immediately also is what I need and ask, in Jesus name.
I'll echo that Cher! It ain't a formula, it's walking "in the faith-walk of being in your word {Bible}, seeking God with a pure, clean heart..." Well said!
I wish your friend the best. I have been in both physical and emotional abuse, as well as my grandmother, mother, and sisters. A dependent and unworthy thing. I made a statement one day that if I had to choose, I would choose the physical. Bruises go away, words don't. Thankfully I don't have to make that decision anymore. I've been set free! My husband is a wonderfull man. He loves the Lord with ever fiber in his being, therefore, He loves me. He takes very good care of me, but I don't depend on him, I depend on God
Thanks for sharing sister Cheryl... When we remain true to God, then He remains true to us... With God all things are possible!!! What a changed life this family member must now be experiencing because of the love and grace of God... Thank you Lord... Blessings In Him... :o) Herman
It is so great about your family member as a reminder of what God can do. God is faithful. The song really got to me, in a good way. God bless you, Cheryl.
Great blog - if you read my testimony you know I was a statistic of spousal abuse....There are good folks on earth and for many years I had all men in the same category - that they were all alike. God proved me wrong!!! when he sent ALLAN into my LIFE.
God Bless.
What an awesonme prayer. To pray for God to enlarge our territory is a truely selfless prayer in a day and time when more and more people seek to do just enough to get by. Even in the church is is a struggle to get people to commit to my enlarged territory with an Internet Chuch. A lot of folks want even take the time to read the blogs let alone take the time to make input. Cheryl shifting gears, can you give me the 1 2 3's of how you get utube videos posted onto your site. I have some worship videos on Google. It is the process the same. You have been more than helpful and I thank you for listening to me. As for you and the situation you bring up, may you know we pray and care very much.
Sister... God bless you for loving another one so much. It takes a great part of one's self to "give" like you've done. Abuse is so difficult to overcome; so hard to help the woman see that it is not her, and to help her see that God can get her over the hurdle, through the maze and into a field of flower so fragrant that she is overcome by the love He pours over her. Thanks be to God, and to you for being such a blessing to her. Joey
