| When The Walking Slows to a Stop |

I walk on my treadmill every day, at least five miles a day if I can. This week it quit, and I couldn't walk on it for two days. The treadmill isn't that old, a little over a year, but as I use it every day and walk so far, I guess I wore it out. My husband tried calling the number in the owners manual because the motor was still under warranty, and we thought we could get it fixed without having to invest in another one. However, what he got was an answering machine telling him to leave his name and number. When they called back he was not able to take the call so they left a message and another number to call, that still had an answering machine, and not a person to talk to.
My husband then called the store where we bought the treadmill from, Dick's Sporting Goods, and explained what happened to the store manager, and asking him how long he was supposed to keep playing phone tag trying to get someone to fix our treadmill. The manager told my husband to bring the treadmill back to the store and he would replace it with a brand new one. Can you believe that? We took it back and got a brand new one, end of the problem!
This has given me back some hope for mankind. Most businesses would not even give you the time to explain your situation, let alone replace the treadmill with a new one. That store manager went far and above the norm, and we will remember it.
Isn't this kind of what God does for us every day? When we wake up in the morning, he fills our days with blessings, if we just know what to look for. He gives us something for nothing, or replaces His love for the hate of the world. Like this store manager completely surprising us with his actions, God surprises me every day with His loving Grace and Forgiveness. Perhaps bad things happen through no fault of yours, or perhaps you are to blame, but God can take it all, and make it shiny and new again. Aren't we blessed to have a God who considers our lives on this earth, under warranty until they are over? And then, we have a forever warranty in the next life. Who can do better than that? |

| Allan bought my treadmill in 2004 from Dicks Sporting here too...Shamefully I do not use it like I did cause we moved in 2006 and this house is much smaller. It is crammed against a wall in the bedroom. Dick's will get their money back and won't have to deal with the phone tag issue either. That's why companies like them stay in business.
Nice blog sister! |

Mike, Thanks Mike!
Teral, Amen sister!
Lynne, I bet that Dick's will get their money back, and come out smelling like a rose....but a lot of businesses wouldn't do this, and I just thought it was so good of them. I would definitely go back there to buy something else. They know what they are doing in business!
Lara, thank you!
rebekah byrne, I agree...
Yahschild, thank you! |

| Treadmill....I was (and maybe still am) in the market for a piece of exercise equipment...my preference is a piece of equipment that will do the exercise for me! Anyway...I was told that elliptical trainers are lower impact and therefore better for you. Why did I share that? I don't remember.... Geez, am I getting old or something??? |
