A year ago I got two of the books on the prayer of Jabez and a workbook. I had never read it. I gave one to my mom and she said she had always wanted to but had not read it either. I found a mini poster with this prayer on it and posted it at the office. I made up a tune so I could remember it. I sang it nearly everyday and many times a day actually.
Jabez means "pain." His mother named him. He discovered his truth work in the covenant and called out to God to cancel out, and redeem him from what had been inherited from his forefathers. Malcolm Smith has a new series that comes from this verse and speaks to all of this. Its very good, but in the end it is about discovering who we are in Christ rather than who we are in the "natural." Power made perfect in weakness...not our power, but his.
