| Sad but sure |

I'm still bummed out. I officiated a funeral for a baby that didn't quite make it. He just had a few more weeks to go, but something happened; and the heart quit beating before birth. ---In preparation I had no idea what to say, but God took me to a passage I've never heard at a funeral. In Revelation 4:1-3 John gets to peek into heaven. He observes a throne in the center of heaven and Someone sitting on it. I was reminded that no matter what we go through in this life, God is still on the throne. This death before a birthday didn't catch God off-guard and He cares more than anyone. ---So we mourned with the family. Jesus said, "Blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted." This is one of those things that no one understands, but we trust in a Sovereign God. And this Soveriegn God gives us hope. King David knew that he would one day go to his child that died at birth. And we trust in Jesus who is the Resurrection and the Life. On this day, I was sad, but I was sure where this child was headed. |
