www.jesuslovesme.org JESUS LOVES ME and I pray that JESUS LOVES YOU ALSO is known in your innermost being Brother Matt
4:19 We love, because he first loved us.
4:6 We are of God. Whoever knows God listens to us, and he who is not of God does not listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another; for love is of God, and he who loves is born of God and knows God. 4:8 He who does not love does not know God; for God is love. 4:9 In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. 4:10 In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the expiation for our sins. 4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 4:12 No man has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us. 4:13 By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his own Spirit. 4:14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son as the Savior of the world. 4:15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 4:16 So we know and believe the love God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 4:20 If any one says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen. 4:13 By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his own Spirit. 1 John 4:135:5 and hope does not disappoint us, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit which has been given to us. If the words above or those preceding sound like something you have read from me in the past they are; I have come to know the TRUTH that Our Father, omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscent and all knowing is far beyond our meager abilities to comprehend The apostle John summed up everything that IS OUR LORD in one word: LOVE.THe word Love is used 311 times in the translation. The Apostle John spoke of LOVE more than any other author in the bible. 4:19 We love, because he first loved us. Today's scripture from the first epistle of John;and was written to encourage those who in the face of Gnostic heresy needed to be encourage to live as Christ Jesus had taught the apostles and those who were follower's to live a life consistant with fellowship with God and HIS Christ. Many times as we read through the three epistles of John we are reminded of The Gospel that bears his name. The reason is simple because the author of The Gospel of John and the three epistles were authored by the same; The Apostle John.
Much of what I was blessed to share in this blog was written in a blog was written 08/08/08 The title of that blog was God IS Love- The 1st and 2nd commandment followed several days later with More on the 1st and 2nd commandment.; and this may be recalled as you read some of what is written as we proceed. Since the subject is God and God IS Love and Love IS God the reposting of several thoughts apply since God IS Love and HE IS Unchangeable. OUR Father is not like Love HE IS LOVE and HIS LOVE is not gained nor ever lost. We can NOT increase HIS LOVE for us nor decrease HIS Love for us; nor can we be separated from HIS LOVE for us Again; for HE IS LOVE. | 2:5 but whoever keeps his word, in him truly love for God is perfected. By this we may be sure that we are in him: 1 John 2:5 4:9 In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. |

3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 5:8 But God shows his love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. The greatest act of LOVE ever known. Thank You Jesus 8:38 For I am sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 8:39 nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Just as in the Gospel of John, LOVE is the message. It is extremely important to undertand we are unable to LOVE as HE LOVES us. There are several types of love and many attempts to define, describe, differentiate, relate, and understand.what" love: is
The The Princeton Web definition of love as: "a strong positive emotion of regard and affection"
The Greeks definitions for love in separated into four categories:
1. Phi Leo love is the love of "attraction" guided by healthy or unheathy needs or desires.
2. Storge is the word for family love and the physical show of "affection" the need for physical touch. Sometimes friendship that becomes physical love.
3. Eros is the physical "sexual" desire, intercourse. It is the root word of erotic, and eroticism. 4. Agape love is unconditional love. It is love by "choice" even if you are not pleased. A good example is "God loves us with our faults."
The first 3 "Greek" definitions ,again from definitions from the Internet site "wikpedia " I can accept. It's #4 I have a problem with as I believe it falls far short from something that cannot be defined nor described. Below again is an Internet, (wikpedia; I believe) deinition and differentiation of the 4 types of Love. As far as writen definitions I believe the highlighted decription/definition is perhaps on of the closest ;while highly abbreviate written definition of "love"
Agapē (IPA: /ˈægəpiː/[1]) (Gk. αγάπη [aˈɣa.pi]), is one of several Greek words translated into English as love. The word has been used in different ways by a variety of contemporary and ancient sources, including Biblical authors. Many have thought that this word represents divine, unconditional, self-sacrificing, active, volitional, and thoughtful love. Greek philosophers at the time of Plato and other ancient authors have used forms of the word to denote love of a spouse or family, or affection for a particular activity, in contrast to philia—an affection that could denote either brotherhood or generally non-sexual affection, and eros, an affection of a sexual nature. The term 'agape' is rarely used in ancient manuscripts, but was used by the early Christians to refer to the self-sacrificing love of God for humanity, which they were committed to reciprocating and practicing towards God and among one another (also see kenosis).
Why all the concentration on LOVE; GOD; and AGAPE Is that not what its ALL about??? Totally, completely unchangeable, unconditional and complete GOD IS LOVE and AGAPE LOVE IS GOD"S LOVE totally completely and unlike no other:
GOD IS Love- The 1st and 2nd Greatest Commandments Originally published 08/08/08
Galatians 5:14 For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
We say we love The Lord. It rolls off our tongues so sweetly and smoothly; but do you really know what it means to love the Lord?? The first greatest commandment is given to us The Gospel of Matthew Chapter 22:
Matthew22:36-38 "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?" And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. and the second greatest commandment:
Matthew 22:39-40 "And a second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets."
Again we say we love The Lord our God so easily, we even say we love our children, our parents, our spouses, our fellow church members; but what about the HIV ridden, heroin addicted, prostitute downtown?? or the family that moved into your neighborhood that is of a different race than yours?? or even The Muslims of the world?? Can you love them??
The truth is in our human capacity (the flesh) we are unable to and many times afraid , and even more often unwilling to show or voice love to "those people".
TRUTH: we cannot keep the first greatest commandment at the same time not willing to or desiring to keep the second greatest commandment; and we keep the second commandment because of the first. This Love is not eros (or romantic) love, nor phileo (or brotherly) love, but GOD'S LOVE-AGAPE LOVE for GOD is LOVE.
God's LOVE is like no other. It is a LOVE beyond our human capacity, beyond comprehesion. Consider Our Father's expression of Love toward us as told in John 3:16:
JOHN 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. Is this not an expression of LOVE beyond comprehension?? So how then can we LOVE like God?? The Answer: By the outpouring of Love to us by The Holy Spirit. Romans 5:5 and hope does not disappoint us, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit which has been given to us. In Paul’s letters to the church of his day, Love is a consequence of faith in God. When we have sufficient faith and trust in God, the Holy Spirit gives us the gift of LOVE as a sign of what is to come in the Kingdom of God. Love is thus not a product of human thoughts or emotions — it’s not possible for mere humans to experience genuine LOVE. Love is a divine gift which occurs only when we allow Christ to live within us and HE out of us towards others. The scripture provided today from our brother's and sisters at "MYChurch" website is: Galatians 5:14 For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
The one word spoken in Paul's letter to the Galatian converts and to us, over ninteen-hundred and fifty years later is: LOVE. GOD IS LOVE. Thus to being identified in Christ Jesus, our LOVE for others must be real and is manifested only in the Spirit of God, John 7:38 "He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, 'From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.' " The Love God pours out to us is not for us, it is for us to share with others. This is our Love response to The Lord.
It was 10 years ago, after years of making the the statement," I Love The Lord," I asked God the question, "How do I Love you Lord?? What does it mean?" In seeking to know HIM more and while praying and studying a book entitled "Jesus Loves Me" by H. L. Roush Sr., my Father in Heaven answered me. " My Son, Love ME by Loving others." I have learned Loving God and fulfilling the 1st greatest commandment is only accomplished through HIM by HIM and because of HIM-"You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
So how again do we LOVE the prostitute, beggar, thief, person of a different faith, or an enemy?? By giving of ourselves freely for HIS sake, in HIS name, and in humilty of the love, grace , mercy HE has given: Romans 5:8 But God shows his love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.
and Matt 25:40 And the King will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.'
The Christian walk can be described using two words; one of which fulfills all of The Law: LOVE. The other is relationship.
Food for Thought: Your relationship with others is a direct reflection of our relationship with Jesus Christ. I would be blessed to hear from you your thoughts about that statement. I believe in the true light of the first and second greatest commandments there can be no argument, for God is LOve and needs no defense; the scripture stands on its own.
In closing, reflect on Jesus' words in Matthew 25:40 And the King will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.'
May The Lord Bathe you richly in HIS Love.
