There is a time and season for everything under the sun. I submit that there is never a time not to pray, or be in some form of prayer, whether it be prayers of praise, intercession or thanksgiving, or corporate prayer.
Prayer is the best form of time management, and the Bible says to pray without ceasing. Why? The answers are displayed in the examples of the lives of the prophets and the apostles who, when they prayed in faith, received blessings in this life and the life to come.
3:1 For everything there is a season, and a time for very purpose under heaven:
5:16 Rejoice always;
5:17 pray without ceasing;
Yes rejoice always, or in the old King James which I like for poetical flow "rejoice forevermore", and pray without ceasing. To me it means to always be in contact with the Father, by speaking to him out loud or silently. Praying without ceasing is a way to demonstrate our love for Jesus through obedience. It is a way of honoring His Word by trusting in Him, that He hears you and cares about what you say to Him. It also produces the fruit of the Spirit, by being spiritually minded, and it brings life and peace to you and then flows out of you into the lives of others. Being in a constant state of prayer is the ultimate way of acknowledging God in all of your ways and trusting in Him, and He will direct your paths.
3:5 Trust in Jehovah with all thy heart, And lean not upon thine own understanding:
3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he will direct thy paths.
How many of you know that we can understand some things? I understand that if my credit score is good and I make a certain amount of money per year, I can finance a car, boat, house etc. I understand that if I put my money in the C.D. or IRA or bank I can earn interest and make money from investing it. I understand some things BUT, God says to not lean to that carnal understanding. WHY? Because He wants us to trust Him completely, and He has given us many precious promises in His Word for us to know intimately and claim, and we can surely take the all knowing Creator at His Word. God said:
2:25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the canker-worm, and the caterpillar, and the palmer-worm, my great army which I sent among you.
42:16 And I will bring the blind by a way that they know not; in paths that they know not will I lead them; I will make darkness light before them, and crooked places straight. These things will I do, and I will not forsake them.
Man I was blind, and now I see so praise God and glory to His Holy name. I was a meth addict, and now I am writing this by His spirit. I have been sober since Mar. 9 of 2008 by the grace and mercy of God, and I know he hears prayer, I know He is there, and He is closer to me than my soul. His promises are true, so do not believe any thought that is contrary to what the Word of God declares.
1:20 For how many soever be the promises of God, in him is the yea: wherefore also through him is the Amen, unto the glory of God through us.
2 Corinthians 1:20 AS1:20 For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why we utter the Amen through him, to the glory of God.
V 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with [him], that we may be also glorified together.
Joint-heirs with Christ! Do you know what that means? Start getting very excited, there is a reason to rejoice, there is a reason to be happy, there is a reason to give love, and Jesus did it all for us, so we don't have to strive to do the things He has called us to do. All we have to do is look to Him for our comfort and whatever it is that we need and desire, and ask it in prayer. He is close to everyone who calls upon His name:
10:8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach:
10:9 because if thou shalt confess with thy mouth Jesus `as' Lord, and shalt believe in thy heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved:
10:10 for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
The Word is in your mouth, so speak it, and then speak life over your house, speak positive things to comfort others who are hurting and see what happens to the way you feel. You will have joy, because God is tru to His Word. Talk to Him today, put everything out there for Him, and let Him comfort you where you hurt, let Jesus heal you, and let Him inspire you to be the royal abassador that you are. You are royalty, and can come before the King of Kings all day, every day, and bring your requests before His Throne of Grace. Not only will you feel better, you will be earning rewards in heaven as you pray. So pray right now for yourself and someone you love, and you will get an answer in Jesus name. I speak prosperity and joy into your life right now and don't think for a second that God won't honor your prayer. If you have sinned, ask Him to restore you and cleanse you with the blood of Jesus and He surely will, and then pray for someone who you know is struggling, and watch a miracle happen. God is still in the miracle business, because He is the Same yesterday today and forever, and He is close to those who call on the name of Jesus.
1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that [pertain] unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
Here we see that we have all things that pertain to life and godliness through His divine power, and the promises that are so great that they are exceeding great. It is truly through claiming these promises in prayer that we wrestle against the enemy and win. We cannot lose:
8:31 What then shall we say to these things? If God `is' for us, who `is' against us?
8:32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not also with him freely give us all things?
Indeed. God has given us everything we need to prevail against the enemy, and the time is short for this world's system of evil and corruption, and we know that evil men and seducers shall become worse and worse deceiving and being deceived. So we really need to pray for the peace of God's people and missionaries, as well as the Bride of Christ..
5:16 Confess therefore your sins one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The supplication of a righteous man availeth much in its working.
Prayer is one of the most effective uses of time here on this earth. Prayer should be preceeded by praise and thanksgiving because that is the model in the Bible. Our Father who is in heaven, Holy is your name (that is truly praise).
100:4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, [and] into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, [and] bless his name.
After the courts you go into the inner sanctuary and then the Holy of Holies, which we now have access to because of what Jesus did on the cross. We are the temple of the Holy Spirit and we have direct access to the Father, and can come before the Almighty Creator of everything and actually have a conversation with Him. He will speak to you if you earnestly pray to Him, mostly through the power of His Word, and the inspiration that it brings. Pray without ceasing.
